Cottage Social. â€" Avery pleasant and suc- cessful social was held, by the kindness of Mr. anil Mrs. Vanzant in their dwelling on Tuesday evening, under the auspices of j-lesLertou Presbyterian Lodies' Aid Society. There was a good taruout, and all appeared 10 eDJoy themselves well. Various gam«8 were lieariilv entered into by those present, while Mr. Vanzant, who can almost make a violin speak, accompanied by Miss Damude and Mrs. Geo. Saul on the Piano, discoursed some charming music, much to the deUgnt of those present. It is needless to say that the g*od things provided by the ladies was all that could be desired. Quite an amusiuR scene took plice on our streets on Tuesday last. A couple of our citizens having found some of those little animils (the hoy) at large, thought the pound- keepers stables (Mr. Munshaw's) would be the best place for them, and had them al- most to the door of the pound when the lady to whom they belonged appeared upon the scene, then it was for who was master of the situation. We think the animals knew the voice of her who was kindest to them. A lilt wa; made a moment's meditation a charge the ranks waver, and the captives are free the men fall back upon the rear, and nothing more is ssdn of them. None killed, very few wounds. EASILY CAUGHT, It is very easily to catch cold, but not sc easy to cure it iinless you use Hagyard's Pectoral Balsam, the best remedy for all throat, bronchial and luug troubles, coughs, colds and con bumptive tendencies.
