T. The following is gleaned from a letter from G. L. Dodds which was too lengthy to give in fidl. Mr. Dodds keeps a provision and general store at Wolseley, 300 miles west of Winnipeg, between Fort Ellis and Qu-Appellc. They have a daily mail, sever- al stores, and prospects for a smart town. The place is healthy and water good. A large number of good settlers are in that district. The following are some of the market prices: Flour, $3.50 per hundred Oats, per bushel, %\ Hay, per ton. $25 to $30 Oat Meal, 8 cents per pound; Sugar, 6 lbs, lor SI; There are several good points for capitahsts on the C. P. R. to invest in. TERRIBLE FATALITY IN ARTHUR. A well known citizen acknowledges the killing of thirteen of his neighbours. Our readers will be shocked at learning that a person named Charles McLean of this vil- lage conceived the idea of putting an end to some petty annoyances which he was in the habit of receiving from some of his neigh- bours, by causing their death. It appears that the more he dwelt en the horrible sub- ject the firmer he became in his resolve j and he finally took the first step by procur- ing tUe instrument of death from W. F. Johnston, hardware merchant. His victims not having the slightest intimation of his purpose, and being in very indigent circum- stances accepted his invitation to partake oi some refreshments, and were therefore more easily lured into the very jaws of death. The terrible nature of their death can only be 1 ealized by the fact that after partaL jg of the proffered refreshment they were un- consciously transfer! ed to a place of confine- ment in which they were compelled to re- main until the next day, when thej were taken separately, regardless cf ace or sex, and cruelly clubbed to death.
