Phone 836M OwerT Sound Wedding bells are ringing in this vicinity. The August meeting of the Cey- lon Ladies' Aid was held at the home of Mrs. John M'cWilliam, with Mrs. Geo. Jaynes presiding, in the absence of the president, Mrs. Geo. Snell. The quilt is to be completed at the home of Mrs. Jas. Sinclair. Mrs. Lawler and Mrs. Craig gave read- ings and a game contest was con- ducted with Mrs. John Nichol the winner. The Septenxber meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. L. W Mould in Priceville. Work has been going on for the past two weeks on a cellar under the home of Geo. Jaynes and the house is now sitting on the cement block foundation. Last Monday the little daughter, Sandra, was watching the men at work when she slipped and fell albout seven feet hitting hei head on the cement blocks below. Shv was rushed to the Markdale Hos- pital, where her condition was not reported serious, but she remained there for a couple of days. Sandra started to school this Monday. Those who attended the C.N.E. from here were; Mrs. Lawson White- head, Mr. and Mrs. Mel. Hogarth, Mrs. Severn and grandson, Tommie, and Fred Chislett. Mr. and Mrs. Ted Dixon and two sons of Timmins visited last week with M'l-. and Mrs. F. Marshall. Recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Lalwson Whitehead were: Mr. and Mrs. M. 0. Simpson, Mr. and Mr-i. Ray Newns and family and Mrs. Poskitt, all of Brannpton. Miss Phyllis Rutledge is attending business college in Owen Sound. Mrs. Goodland (nee Holmes) and little son, Douglas, of Edmonton, Alta., spent last Thursday with her aunt, Mrs. Anna MacM'illan. Mr. and Mrs. A. Kitchen, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Jaynes and Sandra an.l Carman Plester visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Pri4e at Grand Valley. School re-opened here Tuesday of lust week with Miss Blanche Walkei in charge. McCarthy have re- turned to Toronto, after spending a coupe of weeks holidaying at the formers' parental home. Mr. W. A. Martin spent a few days visiting friends in Owen Sound while holidaying here for three weeks. He returned to Oakville on Wednesday of last week. Mr. and Mrs, Geo. Williams of Toronto were recent visitors lierc. Their granddaughter, Barbara M»n- chip, who had been holidaying with friends here, returned to "Toronto with them. Clarence Williams, Toronto, spent the week end in the villlage. Miss Dorothy Brethaeur and Mr Frank Moss of Gait, Mrs. Phyllis McMaster and sister, Shirley of Gait visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Partridge, 8th line, and Mr. and Mrs. Elwood Part'idge, Rock Mills. (Several local residents attended the C.N.E. in Toronto. Mr. Jacob Williams spent a few days in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Williams Sr. have gone to Rock Mills to live with their daughter, Mrs. E. Warren ot .Aurora spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Lundy Johnston and also called on other friends in this com- munity. Mr. Warren was a former pastor in Vandeleur church and their •many friends were pleased to see them again. Mr. W. S. Douglas of Edmonton, .Alta., an old Vandeleur boy, who 's spending a month in the East visit- ing relatives and friends, renewed old acquaintances in this community during the past week. It is ^4 years since Schyler went West and he sees many changes in, the district. He was present at Sunday Schol on Sunday morning and addressed the Bible class, and spoke feelingly of his many happy recollections of the associations with Vandeleur church and Sunday School and the com- munity life of this neighborhood during his boyhood days. Anniversary services will be hell in Vandeleur church Sunday after- noon and evening, Sept. 18th, 2:30 and 8 p.m. Rev. C. R. Leach of Temple Hill will have charge of the service in the afternoon and Rev. Paul Christensen of Dundalk in the evening. Other special features will be provided. Mrs. Will Johnston was hostess for the September meeting of the. W. A. on Sept. 7th, with Mrs. Will Bowles presiding. Mrs. Hare con- ducted a quizz on "Home Visiting' and gave an interesting topic. Mrs Lee spoke on "Growing with th(: years" and urged that every home should read the magazine. Rev. Warren gave a brief address on "Lost Values." Mrs. Ethel Hutch- inson and Mrs. Mel. Buchanan gave readings. A happy social hour was spent with the former members and visitors when lunch was served by the hostess, assisted by Mrs. Mai. Buchanan and Mrs. Geo.
