The Holiday Question It is now clear that the wage- earning population of Canada is no longer willing to work on Monday when it falls between a Sunday and a statutory holiday, there remains nothing for our legislators to do but to accept this decision and register it in law, by making all possible holidays fall, not on the day to which they properly belong, but orr the nearest Monday thereto. If thing are allowed to go on as AUCTION SALE HOUSEHOLD FURNITURE, ETC. they are, the first thing we know people will be taking both Monday and Tuesday off whenever Wednes- day is a holiday, and after a while it will occur to them that it is fool- ish to come back from the country . or the races or the sea-shore just for Thursday and Friday, and what started to be a Wednesday holiday will be another week off.
