Mrs. FiiTman Irish passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 3rd, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. H. Wylie, 136 Wolverleigh Blvd., Toronto, in her 8«Jth year. The deceased had been ill for three months wi'th a heart condi- tion and had suffered with pneumonia twice within the last six weeks. Mrs. Irish was the former Ann Rooane, daugihter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Roome. She was born on the 4th Line of Oeprey, her parents having settled there upon their arriv- al from England. However, her father, who was a pipe ongan builder, having had a business in England, still carried on his trade, ibuilding and installing pipe organs in many parts of the world. Incidentally, tihe first organ in St. James' Cathedral, Toronto, was inS'talled Iby him, the parts having been made by hand, and, although another one has since ibeen installed, the origial one still remains. On Feb. 26th, 1889, she became the bride of Firman Irish, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Irish, Ware- ham. They spent most of their mar- ried life at Wareham and the re- mainder was lived in Tororrto and the village 'of Proton. Since her husband's demise, she Mved for a time in Flesherton and the last years Of her life <iwere spent in Toronto with her dauightevs, Mrs, Wylie and Gertrude. Mrs. Irish is suiivived by one sis- ter, Mrs. Louise Edwards,- of Winni- peg, Man., o.ne son, Charles, and four daughters: Mrs. J. H. Wylie (Irene), Mrs. A. J. H. Robinson (Olive), Mabel and Gertrude, all of Toronto. Four sons and a daughter predec€ase<l her, namely: Fred, John, Reginald and an infant son and daughter, Edith. A very largely attended funeral .service was held at the McDougall & Brown funeral home on Daiiforth Avenue on Friday evening, Dec. 5th, and was conducted by Rev. E. W, Tokely, of Ottawa, a friend of tne family. He was assisterl bv Rev. R. L. LeRoy of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, pastor of the deceased. Mr. Tokeley used for his text 2nd Timo- thy 4:7: "I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course, 1 have kept the faith." He made mention of her devout faith, and practical Cliristian living. .â- \ further sei-vice was held at the McMillan Funeral Home at Dundalk on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 6th, when Re^. H. W. Hobbs of Proton conducted the sei-vice, with Mr. Earl Bray as soloist. Here. al?ain, the large assemhly pre"sent was an evidence of the high regard felt for this former neighbor and friend, who, converted in the Miebhodist Chureh at Warfham more than fifty years ago, had lived so radiant a Christian life. Mr. Hobb.s ba.'^ed his address on John 12:27: "For this cause came I unto this hour." and, in paying trilbute to the life of the departed, he stated: "Mother Irish was truly a Mother in Israel." As a young Chris'tian, I found her to be an unfailing source of encouragement with her joyous, triumphant Christian spirit. Look- ing back over these years of acquaint- ance, I feel that we have lost from our midst one of God's choices.t saints." Interment was made at Mount Zion Cemetery, the pallbearers being: Sam Talibot, Russell Linton, Wm. McOut- cheon, David McMillen, Clarence Wataon and Roy nwick. â€" ^Dundalk Herald.
