A numiber who were employed with the D. F. Co., here are now working for the Hydro, putting in poles for the new power line through here. The Ro<* Mills Mission Circle will hold their Thankoffering meeting in the church this Wednesday, Nov. 7th, and all are invited. Lantern elides on Baptist Mission work in India will be shown. Lunch will be served at the conclusion of the meeting. We are glad to report Mrs. Art Porteous feeling much better after her recent operation and trust she will be fully restored to good health again. Mr. and Mrs. B. Field, who have been residents here for. about forty years, moved on Monday to their new home in Flesherton. Barney was fireman at the Mill for the Durham Pumiture Co. since they purchased the mill some 36 years ago. Mr. H. W. Kernahan of Flesherton has been calling on the people in this district in the interests of the 9th Victory Loan. Mr. Mannie Dabson left on Sunday for Ardbeg to join the" Dargavel hunt club. He was accoraipanied by Mr. Howard Watson. Mrs. James Hall, Owen Sound, sfpent the week end with her mother. Mi"s. Margaret Mullen. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Heathcote of CoUingwood visited during the week end with Mr. and Mrs. James Hud- son. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Udell apent Sunday with Mr. Udell's parents, at Maxwell. The November meeting of the Club was held at the home of Mrs. A. Mullin, Thursday last and al- though just a small number were present, a quilt was completed and arrangements made to hold a bus- iness meeting at the home of Mrs. J. Douglas, Monday evening. A presentation was held for Mrs. T. Bowins and Mr. Leonard Hum- phrey at the Bowin's home on Sat- urday evening when a large crowd of her neighbors and friends pre- sented Mrs. Bowins with an electric floor lamp and the Ladies Aid, of which she has been a valued member since its inception, gave her a bed- room lamp. Leonard was made the recipient of a leather dressing case and Mr. Kenneth Bowins, who has made his home with his aunt for I several years, was given a leather wallet, Mrs. Bowins will be greatly missed in the life of the church and community, where sbe always resid- ed, but the best wishes of friends go with her to her new home. Mr. and Mrs. G. Miller spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Canipbell in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Taylor attend- ed the funeral of tlie late Miss E. Neill in Singhampton on Thursday. FEDERATION OF AGRICULTURE MEETING AT ROCK MILLS The Federation of Agriculture will hold at meeting at Rock Mills Baptist Church this Friady evening, Nov. 9th, at 8 p.m. Free fims from the Na- tional Film Board will be shown. The Hog Marketing Scheme and the for- mation of a Farm Forum will be dis- cussed. Everybody cordially invited to be present. McTAVISH & SONS Flesherton, Ont. Social was held in the Church base- ment. Mr. Gordon Newton and Miss Eileen Harrison won 1st prize for bride and groom in costume. Mrs. D. Campbell and Mrs. H. R. McLean 2nd. dresser as bride and groom. Mrs. Pedan (nee Jean Sims) won a prize dressed as a clergyman. Mi-s. Sims received a prize dressed as a witch. Mrs. John Nichol carried off the prize for best dressed gent. Mrs. Sims invited all to her home afterwards where a dainty lunch was served. Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson and family of Boothville, visited Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. Phillip Harrison. Sunday, a large congregation was present at St. Columba Church for the re-opening of the church. Rev. Holmes of Maxwell was the guest speaker, assisted by Mr. Halliwell. Hanover quartette rendered r\vo lovely numbers; also a duet. In the evening Mr. Mould had charge of the service. The same quartette gave two numbers, also a solo was enjoyed. Mrs. John A. Ferguson. Margaret and Dan and Miss Mary McDonald of Holstein were guests with Mrs. F. McKinnon. Mrs. McKinnon and Mary returned with them for a short visit. Miss Lizzie Mather returned home after spending two weeks in Toron- to. Mrs. Chas. Ferguson, who spent two months at her brother's, Mr. N. Mclntyre, returned to St. Mary's. Mrs. Jack Davis and children of Aurora are visiting with Mrs. F. McKinnon. Mr. Joe. McKee, who has been a patient in the General Hospital in Toronto, returned home. His many friends wish for him a speedy re- covery. '- Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sturrock at- tended the wedding of their niece. Miss Helen Gilkes, at Hopeville. Saturday. A memorial service will be held at 12 o'clock, around the cenotaph, when both local ministers will take part. TORONT O LIN E NORTH Mr. H. Davidson and Mrs. Kerna- han of Toronto were visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ab Stewart. Sympathy is extended to the fam- ily of the late Mrs. J. A. Lever, whose funeral was held Wednesday last. Mrs. Albert Stewart returned home after spending the past week in Toronto and Malton. Mr. and Mrs. C. Martin and Marge of Eugenia visited on Sunday with Mrs. T. Lever.
