Miss Doris Smith of Toronto visit- ed a few 8ays last week at her home here. The funeral of the late Mr. Will- iam Moffatt on Thursday last was attended by several from here and sympathy is expressed for the mem- bers of his family. After the anxiety and uncertainty of not having heard from their son, Bruce for several months, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Brownridge had word last week that he was in Egypt con- valescing from Malaria fever. This was the second bout Bruce has had with this disease peculiar to the tropics, he having to ibe taken off ship over a year ago to hospital in a port in British Guiana. Bruce has been with the Merchant Marine since January, 1942 and we hope he will be one of many of our young men who will soon be home again as a result of the cessation of hostili- ties in Europe. Miss Alda Hawton of Toronto spent Mother's Day at her home here. Some from this community were among a large crowd who attended the sipecial service in Maxwell on Sunday in prayer and thanksgiving for "-he Victory achieved by the all- ied armies in Europe. Rev. and Mrs. Wallace took part in the Sunday evening service in Maple Grove Baptist Church when Rev. Wallace delivered the address and the congregation enjoyed several numbers in song by him and Mrs. Wallace. Mrs. A. Mitchell, Gertrude and Billie and other friends of Colling wood visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. IH. Taylor. FEVERSHAM Our sympathy is extended to the family of the late Mr. Wm. Moffatt who passed away on the 8th Line, Teusday morning. May 8th. A.B. Jas. Pedlar, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hai-vey Pedlar returned home from overseas last Wednesday on 30 day furlough. We are sorry to report Mr. Henry Coulthard ill at present. We hope his health will soon improve. Mrs. H. C. Francis and Ruth visit- ed over the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Beynon in Collingwood. We are pieasea to report that Cheryl Light has suffered no ill ef- fects from her near-drowning ex- perience and is quite well again. iM'r. Alex Rae moved his family and household effects to his former home near London last Friday eve- ning. Mr. Rae will remain until the end of the school term. It was decided to have a clean up bee at the Church Hall on May 20, and the date was set for the circuit W.A. meeting for June 19. Kerton of Tor- In the Community Call on Friday evening, May 4th, a large number of friend's and neighbors of Tpr. and Mrs. Russell Harvey gathered ta-dn honour to the young couple who were married recently. During the evening an addres was read by Mrs. E. Morrison and the gifts, which included many lovely and use- full articles were unwrapped by Mrs. G. W>Tille, Vernon Fawcett and Ralph Fitzsimmons. The even- ing was spent m dancing. •Mrs. Lundy Johnston was hostess to the Woman's A.<s-'vi'>tinn for their monthly meeting on May 2iid when an interesting program was provid- ed. There was a good attendance of members and visitors. A number from here attended a social evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. .\lex Gilray at Wodehouse recently. ELECTRICAL WORK I have completed a practical Electrician's course and have been granted a permit by the Wartime Prices and Trade Board to do electrical wiring and make repairs to all types of electrical equipment, including motors. Due to conditions brought on. by the w«r, materials are in short supply and in great de- mand. Under these circum- stances I will try and serve you to the best of my ability.
