We are now called upon to undertake the largest financial campaign ever undertaken in the Dominion of Canada. Sunday, May 2ndjiext has been declared 'Victory Loan Sunday" by the National War Finance Committee for Canada. All citizens are asked to attend their respective places of worship, and particularly any special public service which has been ar- ranged for that afternoon, at any central point. Citizens are also requested to join in the prayers of thanksgiving and petitions for the Victory of our Armed Forces and the success of the forth- coming Victory Loan. During the progress of the Loan, Citizens are asked to decorate the outside of their homes with Flags and the Merchants and Post Offices are requested to do likewise. The above Proclamation was unanimously supported by the Reeves of all the local municipalities at the April Session of Grey County Council DATED at Owen Sound, this 19th day of April, 1943. EARL V. April 16, with a large attendance of members and visitors. The meeting opened with the- Call to Worship by Mrs. Armstrong, fol- lowed by hymu, "When I Survey the Wondrous Cross". The theme of the program was "Africa for Christ" and was taken by Mrs. Moore. Mre. W. .1. MacMillan. Mrs. McFadden ui<l Mrs. Heard. A duet was suns by Mrs. J. Stewart and Mrs. Black- burn. Mrs. Rumball of Prlceville Pre by'teriau Church, who was the guest speaker, was introduced. She took a" tur text, 2nd Corinthians 4: 5. and gave a very interesting and complete account of her work among Korean people In Japan, which brought out the realization of the .itnsit need of more and more mis- sion work for the pagan millions of the world. Her address was enjoy- ed and greatly appreciated. A vote of thanks was moved by Miss Mac- Millan to Mre. Rumball and all others who took part in the pro- gram. The- meeting closed with the ben- ediction, followed 'by a delicious luuoh. Local and Personal "Mrs. Eric Henderson of Toronto spent the week-end in town. Mre. R. G. Holland is spending a couple of -weeks visiting with her sister, Mrs. Anderson at Maple. Mrs. Dyer suffered another heart attack Sunday at the home of her iieter, Mrs. Jos. Blackburn. Cpl. I-van Hendorson, R.C.A.M.C., of Simcoe is on furlough with his mother, Mre. R. H. Henderson. A serious chimney fire occurred a: the residence of Gordon Long Mon- day morning and despite the fact that the fire truck ran out of gas and there was no permit to purchase more gas. the blaze was extinguished without causing any damage. Miss Alice Armstrong won the $iO> Travelling Scholarship of Queen's University in the final year of her Theological course. Alice is the daughter of Rev. and Mrs. A. E. Armstrong of Meaford and resided in Flesherton with her uncle. Mr. F. H. W. Hickiing, for some years previous to her entry into. Jamieson Passes Wednesday The death occurred on Wednes- day afternoon of "Mrs. William Jamieson of Portia w district, la Markdale hospital in her sixty-sixth year. The late Mrs. Jamieeon wa hristened Ja-ne Hill and -was born ,md raised in the Portlaw district. The late Mrs. Jamieson is gurvtv- e>d by her husband, William Jajnie- son. who is in very poor health and by her adopted daughter, Mrs. Aus- tin Hill of Osprey. In addition her mother, Mre. Isabella Hill, Is still living and is in her eighty-seventh year. Two brothers. L>u.ifi and. Robert, and a sister. Mia. George Young, all of Maxwell, survive. The la*.* Mrs Jamieson was be- loved among the residents of the district who held her in very high --:"!!. She was a very active member of the Zion t'uitwd Church and will be deeply missed by the members of that church. The funeral was held on Friday afternoon. April 16. from the home of her brother. Mr. Robt. Hill, when her paetor. Rev. Dr. G. L. Mercer of Maxwell conducted the service. In- terment wae made in the chapel at Flesher'on.
