Mr. and Mrs. Fred Savage of Sea- forth visited last week at the homk of Howard Watson. Mr. Fred Knox has been confined to his bed the past week under the doctor's care, with chicken pox and •flu. Mr. Hubert Smith of Toronto spent a few dajrg with friends around the Park. The Ladies' Aid and W.M.S. held their meeting on 'Wednesday at the :home of Mrs. Wm. Hay. A large number of ladies were present and an enjoyable meeting was held. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar McLeod spent Sunday with friends at Ventry. Miss Betty Hincks of Priceville visited her aunt, Mrs. Wm. Help is scarce and haying is slow. Mrs. Milne and little son, John, of Toronto have been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. McMaster. Miss Jean Lyons returned home after spending a couple of weeks with friends in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Hoggard of Heathcote and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Little and Melvin of Meaford spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Little. Mr. Mac Cudmore, who has been working in St. Catharines for the past six weeks, spent the week end with his wife here. Miss Gladys and Master Harvey JamieSon of Toronto are holidaying with their co'isins, Garfield and Jean Lyons. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Osborne, John Mrs. Jack Badgerow and Inez and Garfield Lyons spent Sunday with Victor at Camp Borden. Delbert Magee visited with Mrs.. Lyons and family over the week end. Mr. Wm. Collins spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. 'W. Little last week. The Mt. Zion W. A. held their July meeting at the home of Miss Mary Sheardown. There was a good at- tendance. The W. Jack Linton, wiho is training with the air force at Toronto, was home over the week end. Visitors on Sunday at the Martin home were; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Croft of Flesherton, Miss Evelyn Campbell, also Mr. and Mrs. Len Duckett and three daughters of Maxwell. Mrs. A. E. Johnson and daughter Agnes of Toronto are holidaying with her mother, Mrs. Wilson, and sisters, Mrs. McMillan and Ms. Jamieson. Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Atkinson and son. Glen, Toronto, are holidaying at Mr. Wm. Magee's cottage near the lake, on the 8th linej. Mrs. Saunders and little daughter, Patricia, are holidaying in a cottage near the lake on the 8th line. Mrs. F. Cairns, Douglas and Shir- ley motored to Massie on Wednesday of last week and attended the Hammil re-union and spent a very enjoyable time. Lttle Doreen Smith of Toronto is spending two weeks vacation with the Pui-vis sisters. Recent visitors at the Purvis home were; Mr. and Mrs. Harry John and Doreen, Mrs. Piatt, June Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Byers Mary and George of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Ab. Long and son, I Murray, of Toronto visited the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Court Smith. Miss Isabel McKee of Toronto spent the past week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. McKee. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Armstrong of Mount Dennis, Mr. and Mrs. Andr. Norman Cameron of the 48th Highlanders, Toronto, was a week end visitor with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Magee. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gillespie and Mrs. Hollinger of Toronto were week end visitors at the Jamieson home. Mr. Jack Lascelles of Toronto is holidaying with his friend, Mr. Wes Jamieson. Miss Dorothy Jamieson was home over the week end from summer school. Congratulations are extended to Dorothy on her great success with her Entrance pupils at Feversham. All passed with honors and only one failed, whom Dorothy did not recom- mend for the examination. The W. A. met at the home of Mrs. Court Smith on Thursday afternoon with a good attendance, a number of visitors being present. The meeting opened with a hymn, followed by S<;ripture reading and prayer. Busin- ess items were dealt with and it was decided to have an Ice cream social at the home of Mrs. Ross Smith. The next meeting will be "Grandmothers' Day," in the Society and will be held at the church on .\ugusl 15th. The grandmothers will provide the pro- gram and the "non-grandmothers" the lunch. A program followed: Mrs. Alex. Cameron won the bean guessing contest and received a prize. Jean Smith, Janette Haas, Ken Magee and Douglas Turner sang "There Will Always be An England." Mrs. Cam- eron a reading. The superintendent and officers of the Sunday School have decided to have an ice cryam social at the church. Particulars later. Master Donnie Lavry of Toronto is hnlidaying wifch his cousins, the Purvis ohildren. Mrs. Don Campbell was hostess to the W.M.S. and W.H. Societies on Tuesday afternoon. Miss M. Nichol presided and after singing a hymn Miss Nellie McLean read the Scrip- ture lesson. Mrs. John Nichol led in prayer. Mrs. Neil Cameron gave an interesting paper and Mrs. Bradey Ii"win gave a reading. Considerable businsss was dealt with and the meet- ing closed with prayer. Mrs. Suther- land presided over the W.M.S. and the Scripture lesson was read re- sponsively. A few moments of silent prayer was followed by prayer by Mrs. A. L. Hinicks. Mrs. Jas. Stur- rock gave a reading and Mrs. Suth- erland read a chapter from the study book. The meeting closed with prayer. The August meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. J. A. Nichol. Mrs". Bill Hill of Fergus is visiting her mother, Mrs. H. R. McLean. Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Hincks and family spent Saturday in Owen Sound. Mr. and Mrs. Alex. McLean return- ed to Toronto after holidaying here. Congratulations to Rev. and Mrs. Muir on the arrival of a baby boy on [Thursday. July 18th. Mr. Roy Langford occupied the pulpit Sunday in St. Columba church and preached a fine sermon. He also i-endeied a lovely solo. Mr. and Mrs. E. Williams and Mrs. W. McLeod and Mr. and Mrs. B. Mc- Kechnie spent a day at Wiarton. Mr. John Williams of Eugenia spent a few days days last week with his daughter, Mrs. Jim Russell and on Saturday, July 20th, celebrated his 82nd birthday. Mr. Williams is still enjoying a 'good measure of health and is quite smart for his ad- vanced years. We join in wishing this esteemed gentleman many happy returns of the day. Mr. Thos. Whitmore of Durham visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Newell. Mr. Garth McDowell of Toronto is spending his holidays with his uncle, Mr. J. A. Poster, Sadie and Stewart. Master Ted Ne\vell is holidaying for a fortnight with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Newell. Visitors the pa.st week at the Foster home were: Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Aldcorn and daughter, Yvonne, of Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. B. To- man of Corbetton. Mrs. J. Beard and sons of Owen Sound spent Monday with her hus- band here. Mrs. Pringle, Mrs. Wilson and daughter. Miss Muriel, of Toronto holidayed last week with their mother, Mrs. Consley, and their sister. Miss Edith Consley. Mrs. Kirkwood and daughter, Joan,' and Miss Ruby Lyons are holidaying this week at the home of their father, Mr. Chas. Lyons. Mrs. Patterson's mother, Mrs. Drain, her aunt, Mrs. Fletcher, and brother are visiting at the home of the minister and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Patterson. Week end guests at the home of Mr. R. G.
