A "sumphuny" band serenaded Mr. Russel Acheson and his bride last Wednesday night when the young couple arose from their slumbers and welcomed the guests. We are pleased that Mr. Thurston Sr. is regaining health and strength after his critical illness. VANDELEUR EUGENIA A fowl supper will be held in the United Church, Eugenia, on Tuesday evening, October 18, under the aus- pices of the 'Woman's Association. Following the supper a program will be given with a play "Wild Ginger" given by Bethel people. Supper will be served from 5.30 to 8.00 o'clock. Admission 40c and 25c. C. Sinclaii- Jones of Watford, a former minister here, had charge of both services. Previous to the sermon he made kindly references to his former pastorate here. Mr. R. Langford of Mai-kdale played the doxology on the trumpet at the be- ginning of the sermon. Mr. Langford also contributed a vocal solo. At the evening service Mr. Jones took as his text "Advertising our Christianity." Mr. Gordon Beaton of Markdale con- tributed a solo at the evening ser- vice. The choir, twenty strong, rend- ered an anthem at each service. A Toronto firm knidly installed a small amplifying system in order to con- vey the minister's sermon better.
