Ed Boyd, Victor Osborne, Garfield Lyons, Murray Morrison and John Osborne and Miss Edith Mor- rison were Sunday callers on Mr. and Mrs. Mac Cudmore. Threshing is just about completed around here but it is a problem to get enough men. On Thursday evening a shower was given at the home of ^r. and Mrs. Jas. Hopps in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Frank McArthur. A happy time was spent by all present. This community extends congratu- lations to Mr. and Mrs. Austin Hill (nee Grace Jamieson) who were mar- ried on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Little, Mr. ana Mrs. 'W. H. Little and Miss Gertrude spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. C. Huggard of Heathcote. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Fisher and D. A. of South Line and Mr. and Mrs. Russel White of Saugeen Junction were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Little. Mrs. Lewis Sheardown has not been feeling very well lately. We hope she soon will be enjoying her usual good health. Mr. and Mrs. E. Haney and Mr. and Mrs. A. Haney of Toronto visited with Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Haney on Sunday, -also Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hock- ley of Markdale. Miss Lillian Morton, R.N., of Iro- quois Falls has been holidaying at her home here. in a motor accident, it was a great shock to her many friends here. The cold meat supper and play under the auspices of the Ladies' Aid was a success and the play "Jimmie Be Careful" was exceptionally good. The services on Sunday were splend- id. In the morning the service was conducted by Rev. Roach of Ravenna who gave a fine discourse on prayer especially the prayers of Jesus and Moses. His two daughters gave two fine selections which were very much appreciated. Rev. Roach also took the evening service when Temple Hill choir turned out en masse and rendered two fine selections. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Lawrence, Ted and Loreen of AUandale visited with Mrs. Jas. Lawrence and other friends Sunday afternoon. Winnis Graham and Russel Chard of Meaford High School spent the week end with their parents. Miss Myrtle Fawcett held a suc- cessful sale of household furniture on Friday of last week. Mr. David Pawcett of Vancouver, B.C., is visiting his sister, Miss Myr- tle, and other friends here. Miss Myrtle is returning with him for an extended visit. 'We congratulate Mr. Stuart Ellis on being elected president of Wesley United Church Y.P.U. at Gait. The guest speaker for the day was Rev. 'Wm. McWhinney of Wiseton, Sask., and his messages were well received. The choir rendered special music and the church was nicely dec- orated for the occasion. A Thanks- giving service wil be held in the church next Sunday. The y.P.U. will meet Friday even- ing at the home of Mr. Wilbert Poole. The Guild of St. Mary's Anglican Church met at the home of Mrs. Kemahan on Thursday, September 29, when they made plans to hold a fowl jupper on Armistice Day in the hall. Miss Shirley Buckingham of Mill- brook High School spent the week end at her home. Miss Mabel Ross has returned from Grimsby Beach where she spent the summer months. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Betts and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Akitt of Flesherton were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Binnington. Mr. and Mrs. Ren Acheson and family and Mr. F. Jones and daugh- ter, Mabel, of Cheltenham spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. G. Ross. They were accompan- ied by Messrs. Ross Acheson and Jim Kirkpatrick. Miss Annie Burritt, R.N., visited Kimberley friends for a week. Mrs. Gordon Davis and sons of To- ronto visited with Mr. and Mrs. T. Saul over the week end. â-  'We congratulate the teachers and pupils in winning so many prizes at the annual school fair held at Rock- lyn on Monday. They secured first for marching and physical exercises, second in two-part chorus. Leona Kirkpatrick was successful in secur- ing the greatest number of points in Kimberley school. His many friends hope for a speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. R. Sewell and son attended the funeral of the former's niece, Mrs. Dixon, of Toronto one day recently. Mrs. Albert Hutchinson of Sask- atchewan is spending a few weeks with relatives in this district. The pupils of the local school took quite a few prizes at the Artemesia school fair at Flesherton last week. A good number from here attended Markdale Fair on Saturday. Little Jean McGee is home after spending several weeks in the Sick Children's Hospital, Toronto. Quite a number from here attended the anniversary services in Ebenezer Church last Sunday afternoon and evening. Next Sunday, October 9, Thanks- giving services will be held in the local church conducted by Rev. Annis. The following Sunday, October 16, anniversary services will be held at 2.30 and 7.30 p.m. when the Rev. A. H. Ferry of Knox Church, Owen Sound, will be the preacher. On Thursday evening, October 20, a social evening will be held at the church when the noted Shiels family of Chesley will put on the program. Mrs. R. J. Stewart and Misses Sylvia and Susie Stewart of Shrigley were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs. H. I. Graham. Misses Agnes Macphail, M.P., L, Whittaker, M. Mather and Mrs. Knox and Mrs. Mather attended the fowl supper at Salem Monday. Mr. and Mrs. W. Gibson und Mrs. J. R. Sinclair and family attended Dundalk Fair on Wednesday. Mrs. Gordon Stuart and children of Flesherton visited with Mrs. Pattison last week. Mr. and Mrs. Mel Hogarth are oc- cupying Mrs. T. A. Gilchrist's house. Mr. C. Bennett's threshing outfit is busy in this locality. Mr. and Mrs. 'W. McCormick and Mr. and Mrs. J. Aldcorn of Swinton Park visited with Mrs. Knox. Mrs. T. A. Mrs. Archie Stewart has returned home after visiting fx-iends in West- era Canada during the summer. Mr. Albert Arrowsmith of Niagara Falls is visiting his brother, Mr. G. Arrowsmith, and Mrs. Hunt, who has been on an extended visit to Toronto returned home with him. Mr. and Mrs. John Stewart spent Sunday at Caledon. They were ac- companied by Mr. Donald McLeod who will .spend the winter at Madoc. The Ladies' Aid held their Septem- ber meeting at the home of Mrs. S. McLeod with a fair attendance of members. Lunch was served at the close of the meeting. It was decided to hold a produce and bake sale in Flesherton on October 15 when con- tributions in that line will be greatly aippreciated. The first fellowqihip meeting will be held at the home of Mi"s. J. McKee in the near future to which all are invited. Rev. Muir of Priceville United Church px'eached anniversary services here both afternoon and evening to large congregations. Mrs. Hunt had charge of the music in the afternoon while the Flesherton choir rendered some special selections in the evening. Mrs. F. Collinson and Marion were in Dundalk on Saturday. On the way up they motor- ed through Muskoka and came back by way of Haliburton. They visited over Sunday with friends at Lake of Bays. Mrs. 'Wyville visited with Dundalk friends on Monday. Mrs. Blake of Proton Station was rushed to Markdale Hospital early Wednesday morninp. We are pleased to report she is recovering. Our public school and its teacher, Mr. Priddle, attended the school fair held at Flesherton and brought home a share of the prizes. Many from here attended the Sal- em anniversary services last Sunday and enjoyed them. Mrs. Sherson received word last week of the serious illness of her sister, Mrs. Risey, of Hamilton. PRICEVILLE Congratulations to Pricville School on winning so many prizes at the Artemesia School Fair. Mr. and Mrs. Ai-chie MacCuaig vis- ited recently with Burgoyne friends. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Tucker and family and Mrs. A. L. Hincks spent the week end at Wyoming, Petrolia and Sarnia. Mrs. Alex. Carson is visiting her daughter. Mrs. Art Richardson, of Swinton Park. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Pedlar and family of Toronto visited Sunday at the home of Mr. A. Carson. Mr. D. Carson returned home with them af- ter spending a week in Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. George McLellan of Niagara Falls spent the week end with friends here. Mrs. Campbell returne<l with thorn while Mrs. Mc- Lellan remained for a visit.
