Wednesday, June 8th, 1938 THE FLESHERTON ADVANCE Livi Stock Report (By Dmui & Lerack. Toronto) With an unexpected heavy supply ot cattle on Monday, a largef per- centage of which waa off pasture, the market opened slow and buyers were bidding much lower prices, especially on grass cattle. Some of the best stable cattle sold at steady prices, while those of medium quality were lower. Cows, which have featured the market for some time, were fully fl.OO lower than a week ago. Choice stable fed weighty steers brought from 7.00 to 7.50; fair to good from 6.00 to 6.76. Choice stable fed butcher steers and heifers brought from 6.60 to 7.00, with a few extra prime at slightly higher prices; fair to good from 6.50 to 6.25; common to medium 4.50 to 5.25. Choice baby beeves were in good demand at from 7.50 to 8.50, while those of medium quality sold at lower prices accord- ingly. All cows were lower, choice from 4.50 to 5.00; fair to good from 8.50 to 4.25; canners and cutters 2.60 to 3.00. The bull trade was lower, choice light butcher bulls from 4.50 to 6.00; choice heavy bulls 4.26 to 4.50; bolognas mostly 4-00. The lamb market held strong. Victory For Flesherton Flesherten won their first game at hone on Monday evening when tkey decisively trouaced tna Holland Centre team by a score of 29-19. Flesherton got seven runs in t^e first inning, four in the second, 8ev> en in the fourth, eight in the fifth and three in the sixth, while Holland Centre counted three in the third, five in the fourth and two in the sixth. Each team got one walk. Home runs were plentiful with the local squad collecting five of the sev- en. Teeter got two homers and John- son, Betts and Smith each got one. Brawley for Holland Centre got two homers for his team. The home team collected thirty-three hits for twenty-nine runs and Holland Centre had seventeen hits for ten runs. All the boys played good ball and de- serve credit for their victory. The next home game is with Walter's Falls on June 16th, so let's see a good crowd out to give the boys the support they deserve. Farm land values have been declining since 1&28 when they were reported at |S8 per acre. A low point of |23 per acre was reach- ed in 1934 and an increase to 924 occurred in 1986 since when the val- ues have remained the same. The calf market held steady, choice mostly 8.00, with a few extras j up to 8.50; fair to good from 7.00 to 8.00; common to medium 5.00 to 6.50. Following last week's quick ad- vance in hog T>rices, the market re- acted somewhat on Monday, most of the sales being made on the basis of 10.25 for truck deliveries.
