We heartily fall in with that opin- ion, and would also still more heartily fall in with a move to exclude men from beverage rooms, and would back up the government in taking steps in that direction. Beverage rooms for the sale of beer and wine should be closed not only in municipalities that vote them out, but generally through- out the province. At any rate the people of the province should be giv- en an opportunity by a plebiscite or a referendum to vote them out and by a simple majority. HYMNS WITH SWING (Windsor Star) About 30flO delegates to the annual convention of the Church of God la Christ at Memphis don't go much for speeches. They listen with respect as the orators exhort and as the re- ports are read. But just let a speak- er sit down and give the pianist a chance to play, and the whole 3000 col- ored folk go to town on the hymns. »No one has to call the number of the selection. The people know all the hymns and they prefer ones with swing to them. Once the music be- gins they are all enthusiasm. They sing at the top of their voices and some of the harmony is wonderful. It is the way they like best to worship and as in any church most of the people like to sing. Congregations enjoy a sei"vice if there are a few swing hymns sung in such a way that each individual lets go and everyone else is singing so loudly that even if to turn and look.
