In other words is there room for Jesus in all our planning and preparing? In our giv- ing and receiving of gifts. Is there any room for Jesus in our merry- making and feasting? Sad is the fact the shadow is still with us. "No room" for Him, God"s Love Gift in many hearts and homes today. It is still a tragedy that in our so called Christian civilization many have no room for the Christ who started it. Mv friend, do you really desire to have :i happy Christmas ? Do you ? Then just open the door of your heart, and the door of your home to Him who stands outside waiting to come in. •Behold I stand at the door and knock: If any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him. and will sup with him. and he with Me. Christmas is one of the church's fes- tivals which has not been retained within her own walls but has over- flowed into the community and throughout the whole wide world. We hail the birthday of Jesus be cause of what He was, and the new era which He introduced: because of the impact which His life has made upon the world: and on account of the church which immediately came into being because He lived. The church has been the one body of people which down through the cen- turies has consistently endeavoured to make his dreams and visions come true. Christ, without the church, would soon have been lost in the debris of history; and the church without Christ would soon have become defunct and meaningless. Christ and the church or Christmas and the church should always be t'win thoughts. Christmas in the church is Christmas in its right environment, but Christmas, without thought of either Christ or the church, becomes only an empty and pagan festival. Let us then as we approach the birthday of our Lord put Him in his proper setting as we surround Him with the spirit of worship and thank- fulness to .\lniighty God. that in His Divine Wisdom He saw fit to send His Son into the world that men should learn to know, honour and love God. Mr. Joe Campbell of St. Joseph Island visited his cousin, Mrs. Georjj..' Koss, last week. Mrs. Renfred Aehesou and children of Cheltenham visited last week at her parental home. Mr. Allen Priestly has returned from Fort William, where he has been working. Mi.-;s Merlie Buckinghwim is home from Toronto for her iijli-la:'s The Women's Institute met at the home of Mrs. Chas. Long on Tuesday. Dec. l4th. The roll call was answtr- ed by a recipe of either mince meat or Christmas cake. .\ very interesting program was given. Mrs. Bucking- ham led a discussion on quilting and quilt making and Mrs. Ed. Seeley led in singing of Christmas carols. Mrs. J. T. Leggatt gave an address, wh'c.i ! was followed by exchanging Christ mas gifts.
