Thompson, a well known and highly esteemed resident o"l this village for the past nineteen years and prior to that time a resident of Atemesia Township, passed away at his home here on Wednesday evening of last week. Death came suddenly, lor the late Mr. Thompson, although he had been ailing in health for a number of years, had been able to be out and around. He sulfered a weak spell a.s he prepared for bed Wednes- day evening. Deceased would have celebrated his 85th biilhday on the second of next month. The late Mr. Thompson, who was born in Erin was united in marriage to Mis.s Mary JaiU' Thistle of Sliel- burne. and soon afti'r their maii'iage they moved to .A.rf,enu'sia Township, where Mr. Thomjjson farmed until re- tiring and moving to this village nine- teen yt ars ago. He is survived by his sorrowing wife and two daughtei's, Etta, Mrs. Edgar Botts, of Flesherton. and Ada, Mrs. Lawson Whitehead of Markdale. A son Walter, passed away sixteen years ago. The f\ineral took place on Fridav afternoon, when service was held at his Int" residence at 2 o'clock p.m. Rev. G li. Service, pastor of St. John's United Church, gave a com fortinir message to the bereaved fam- ily and also presided at the hnvi'il siM'vice in the mortnary chapel in Flesherton Cemetery, where interment 'vill be made. Baptist Services The Christma Services in the local Baptist Churches were well attended and special music was rendered by the choirs at both chuiches. Miss Dor- othy Foster delighted the Kock Mills congregation as a prelude to the ser- vice, with a number of Christmas car- ols on the piano, and the choir of young girls she had trained gave sp- lendid service in the snging. The Rock Mills S. S. held their annual Chjistmas entei-tainment with the Su- perintendent presiding. 'I'he church was packed to the doors and for two hours the members of the Sunda.v School delighted the audience with a variety of talent which was greatly appreciated. Thi-ee Pageants were ubiy given with a short Flay by friends of the 8th line. Croat ci'edil is due to the three workers in particu_ lai- who laboured so enthusiastically :ind patiently to get the Sunday School scholars to such a high degiei' i!f elficiency as manifested l)y each one, and the thanks of the school and church were tendered to Miss Dorothy Foster.
