Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Brett on the birth of a son. Mr. H. Graham delivered a Short- horn bull calf to a breeder near Mt. Forest one day last week. We are glad to report her much improved in health. We extend the sympathy of the community to Mrs. Spofford and fam- ily in their bereavement in the death of husband and father; also to Mrs. A. Sparks and Miss Edna McCallum and the McKce families in the death of Mrs. .\. McCallum. Keep -April 3rd open for United Church concert. Mr. and Mrs. McDowell and Mr. Jack Foster of Toronto visited over Sunday at the Foster home. We are sorry to report that there is no improvement in the condition of Mrs. J. A. Foster. Mr. D. E. Richie spent the week end at his parental home at Durham. Mrs. Sam Croft visited recently with relatives at Holland Centre. Miss Leila Clark has left for Owen Sound to work. 'Mr. and Mrs. Harold Osborne and two children of Feversham visited the first of the week with Mr. and Mrs. Ned Croft. Mr. Clayton Betts of Proton visited the past week at the home of his brother, Laurie. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Newell were recent visitors^ with relatives at Durham. Miss Marguerite Croft of Owen Sound was a recent visitor at her parental home here. Mr. John Ottewell is busy buzzing wood for a number of the farmers in this community. The young people of the community are practising a play which they in- tend to present in the church in a few weeks. Longest Game Yet Played In Hockey VICTORIA CORNERS The meeting of the W. The social evening of the Young People's Society was held at the home of Mrs. Eby on Wednesday, March 18 with nearly sixty present. The meeting was opened by singing "Oh God our help in ages past," which was followed by the Lord's Prayer. The minutes were read by Ronald Springgay, adopted by Mun-ay Lep- ard and seconded by Kathleen Haw- ton. The roll call was answered by an L ish expression or an Irish sorig. Herb Eby the social convenor con- tinued the meeting with a song "When Irish Eyes are Smiling." Murray Lep- and gave a reading "Blarney Stone," followed by a song. "Tipperary" and a reading by Flora Morrison. Every one united in the singing of "My Wild Irish Rose," followed by a reading by Mac Stephen and a song, "Peggy 0'- Neil," .Allan Springgay gave a read- ing and the song "Tipperary" was repeated. Fun for everyone was then supplied in the form of games and contests. Prizes were awarded to the winners. Lunch concluded the program and the Mizpah Benediction was repeated in unison. The next meeting which is to be devotional will be held at Miss .Allis- ter's home on Wednesday, March 25th Bob McQuay has charge of the pro- gram. Mrs. John Robinson. Mr. E. Rob- inson's mother, will celebrate her i)2nd birthday on Wednesday. March 25th, Mrs. Robinson is enjoying good health and is a wonderful lady for her age. she can read, sew and see wonderfully well without glasses, her hosts of friends will wish her many returns of the day with continued good health; she is living with her son and daugh- ter, Mr. Eli and Miss Amelia .A. Robinson here. Mr. H. Eby vis-ited with his broth- er James Eby in Collingwood last week. Mi-s. Kearns of Owen Sound was a visitor with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Short, recently and also with her daughters, Mrs. Sam Phillips and Mrs. John Ot- tewell. Mrs. Kearns is Mrs. Short's sister.
