' 1*^ « I J » LOCAL DISTRICT NEWS 'IT EUGENIA COOKâ€" FENWICK A very pretty wedding was solem- nized on Saturday, August 24 at high noon at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. E. Fenwick, 8th line, Art- emesia when their daughter, Delmar Sadie Marie wa.s united in marriage to Mr. Harold Cook, younger son of Mr. . and Mrs. Chas. Cook, Owen Sound. The pretty bride looked charming attired in a frock of white crepe with a yoke of hand-fagotting and wore the groom's gift, a necklace with pend- ant with cameo setting. Carrying her bridal bouquet of American Beauty roses and leaning on the arm of her father, who gave her in mar- riage, she took the place beneath an arch of evergreen. Miss Edith Fenwich, gowned becomingly in a flowered crepe costume with white accessories and carrying a bouquet of maiden-hair fern and rose buds, was her attendant. The grooms- man was Mr. Ward Agnew of Owen Sound. Two winsome little girls, Elnora Fenwick, (the bride's sister) and Peggy Linton, (her niece) were prettily dressed in white and green orgrandy and carried pink and white baskets containing sweet peas and baby's breath. Miss Madeline Hoath of Woodford, cousin of the bride act- ed as pian-t and played the wedding Bells march. Rev. Jos. R. Wolsten- crof:, Baptist minister of Flesherton performed the marriage ceremony. The groom's gifts were: to the pian- ist and bridesmaid, each a compact; to the flower girls, each a bracelet. Mtev the ceremony the guests which consisted of the immediate re- latives of the contracting parties, as- sembled in the dining room where a sumptuous wedding "breakfast" was served. A delicious three-story wed- ding cake centred the table. The happy young couple took the after- noon train for Toronto and other points to spend their honeymoon. The suit with Mrs_ Wilson and other relatives, Miss Margaret McMillan has returned home after spending two weeks hol- idays with the Johnson family at Lake Erie. Mr., and Mrs. Glen MacDonald of Chatsworth visited the latter's grand- parents, Mr. and Mrs. Adam Smith recently. Miss Isabel Henry of West Monk- ton and Miss Jean Carruthers of Kimberley visited their cousin, Miss Muriel Carruthers the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Herb Legard and fam- ily of Pickering spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Magee. Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Gorley and Miss Irene Martin visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hill, near Mark- dale. Mr. and Mrs Jack. McCowell of (Toronto also Mr. and Mrs. Percy Le- gard, Ronald and Marion of St. Cath- erines visited on Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Bert Magee. Recent visitors at Milton Bannon'a were: Mr and Mrs. Brown of Port Rowan, Mr. Jno. Robinson of Ham- ilton. Mr. and Mrs. Fritz and child- ren of Kitchener, and Mrs. Fritz's father. Mr. Hawes who Is remaining for awhile. Messrs. Atbert ^nd Ernest Stin- son spent a few days at the Ex. Mr and Mrs. Wm. Coon and Mis; Helen Badgero, Toronto visited at Mr .Albert Stinson's over the holiday. Mrs. Wm. Ludlow is spending a few days at the home of Mr. George Dun- can, Bethel. Mr. R. J. Woods, Corbetton, preach- ed a very impressive sermon on sin, at Inistoge. Mr. and Mr.s. Pietrie are away on their holidays Mrs, Robinson is home again after his parental home, and will continue his studies at Flesherton High School Messrs. Jim and Eddie Hargrave have returned to Toronto after a fort- night visit with the Park families here. Mr. Norman Cameron spent a few days at the home of Mr. Bert Magee. Miss Lillian, Magee visited a few days with her friend Miss Frances Reiley of Priceville. Mr Will. Magee spent a few days in Toronto and attended the exhi- bition. Miss Ha Magee also visited a few days in the city. Mrs. T. Lever and daughter, Miss Gertrude of Flesherton visited on Sun- day at the Martin home. Mr.) and Mrs. Geo. Williams and Harold, also Mr. Ernie Williams of Toronto visited over the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Williams. Mrs. Williams returned to the city with them and will spend a couple ot weeks with friends. Mrs. Sprunt who has spent the past two weeks here also returned to her home in the ,' er's in Markdale. GO 'LONG BRIGHT CENTRE LINE Shelbume people chuckle when Glen Phillips of Keldon district comes to town to do the family shopping. He rides into town on an ox and carries home the groceries on the animal's back. The aniaml has^now got accus- tomed to cars and. while most of these whizz by, some of them stop and give this unique outfit a closer scrutiny. To date Phillips has es- caped being "pinched" for exceeding the speed limit. DANCE AT MAXWELL ON MONDAY. Miss Muriel Taylor has returned home to Toronto after spending the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Tay- lor. Wareham school has been consid- erably improved during the holidays. A new floor has been put in and the walls and ceiling painted and the doors repaired. Our school opened on Tuesday, with Miss Ha Fell! of Dundalk as teacher. This will be Miss Fell's third year here Miss Blanche Jackson goes to Hath- erton to teach. Mrs. H. V. Gaudin and Stanley ot Toronto spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Little. Miss Milie McMullen told a very interesting story of her trip to Jamaica a few years ago. Recrea- tion consisted of a word forming con- test after which the meeting closed in the usual way. On Saturday afternoon. .August 31. the public school children and Miss Sloan held a picnic in the park, a very enjoyable time was spent.
