The trustees of this school section are having the school house painted and decorated and everything put in good shape for the opening of the school. McClocklin and Mr. Sorsoliel, Deputy Minister of Public Welfare. A number from here are planning to attend the Induction on Wednesday night at 7:30, at Swinton Park of the Rev Mr. Maclvor, from the West. Vina Love, daughter of Mr. and Mrs Geo. Love of Egremont died on , Sunday evening, aged about 19 years, after an extended illness. The fun- eral took place Tuesday afternoon, when service was held at l^er home interment taking place m McNeil cemetery. Mrs. Simms and daughter of Sar- nia are visiting with the Latimer and Proctor families. Just as a storm was approaching, last Friday toward evening. Mr. Fred Duckett and his 13-yearrold daughter, Leone, were making their way home from a hay field, when they met with an accident that might have proved fatal to both. They had a very mir- aculous escape. Leone was sitting on her father's knee on the hay vake. when the tongue ibroke, throwing both of them off the seat and causing the horses to run away. Mr. Duckett and Leone were dragged by the rake some distance before they were freed Dr. Milne was summoned and attend- ed to their injuries. Mr. Duckett had several cuts on his head, while Leone is nursing a broken arm sore side and several scratches trust that both patients will have a speedy recovery and we extend our sympathy to them. Mr. and Mrs. Ernie Boyle and fam- of Rocklyn were recent visitors from her uncle, Mr. Walter Clarke, of Barrie that he had a miraculous es- cape from death having been struck by lightning during a recent electric storm. He remained confined to his bed for six days but he is around again none the v.'orse for his exper- ience. The victim felt the pain in his neck and was unconscious for two hours. McKen- zie was struck by lightning. The current struck the bale and passing down the stable killed one horse, al- mo.st another, rendered the ocher two deaf, while a fifth apparently escap- ed injury. Seven cows, in at the time, also escaped. The building was only slightly damaged. Alvin Mc- Kenzie and Robert Sheardown had just stabled their team and had them imharnessed and were standing close behind the horses that were struck down. Mr. Gilbert Little lost a fine .year- ling colt with lightning in a recent electric storm. Haying has been delayed through the frequent rains and a good deal of the crop is still in the fields. CEYLON Mr. and Mrs. A. .Sinclair, who are on a two weeks' vacation are visiting friends in Toronto, Sarnia and other points. Mr. W. A. Hassard, K. C. of To- ronto very acceptably occupied the pulpit on .Sabbath afternoon in the interest af Temperance and his ad- dress was much enjoyed Owing to the absence of Pastor, Rev. Scott, who will be on holidays for the next three weeks, there will be no Sunday school or church service till the first Sabbath in September. Mr. Jas. Scott of Delia.
