Sunday School will bp held at 2 p.m. and church service at 7:30 p.m. Mrs. Thos. Aldcorn and brother, Mr Jack Foster, of Toronto motored up and spent a day with their parents Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Foster. Mr. and Mrs. C. Newell visited the first of the week with relatives in Durham. Miss Ita Pedlar of Markdale was a week end visitor at her parental home. Mr. and Mrs. Joyce Porteous motor- ed to Kemble on Sunday and visited with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Johnston. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lee of Owen Sound were visitors the first of the week with Mr. and Mrs. Dick Clark and family. Portlaw public school came over and played a game of football with the Rock Mills school team on Thurs- day evening, resulting in a score of 1 to in favor of Rock Mills. Miss Oliver and Miss Heard acted as ref- erees. Quite a crowd was present to s.ee the game. VICTORIA CORNERS Mr. and Mrs. Proctor and family and Mrs. L. Latimer of Eugenia vis- ited at Will Acheson's. Miss Sylvia Acheson took in the excursion and visited at Toronto over the week end. A number of the ladies of the W. M. S. attended the Presbyterial at Markdale on Wednesday of last week. Mrs. Robinson is visiting her sister- in-law, Mrs. Thos. Robinson, of Dun- dalk, who has been ill. MUST NOT SHOOT DOG An interesting case was heard be- fore Judge Wismer at the Orillia Di- vision Court, when Michael Mahoney. Oro Township, brought civil action against a neighbor, Alexander Mac- Dougall, to collect $50 as the value of a dog. which Mahoney said he own- ed, and which, he testified, had been destroyed by MacDougall. "You can- not shoot a dog because it is a nuis- ance," said Judge Wismer. "If that were the law. I might be shooting dogs around my place, all the time.'
