Editor AN KX-KIXC; UNION Alfonso, who was driven from the throne of Spain recently, may take up residence in Scotland. At all events, he has been given a cordial invitation to become a neighbor of the British Sovereign up Deeside, and has been promised plenty of at- tractions, including the joke loving (and profitable coining) Aberdonians. Bon Acord counsels him not to think of resuming the thankless task of ruling the turbulelnt Spaniards and to leam, as other kings have done that it is "best to let the tow gang wi' the bucket." Alfonso might well busy himself in establishing an ex- iled Kings' Club for ocial purposes only. The fair haired Manuel of Portugal would no doubt be chosen first chairman by virtue of his 21 years' exile, but ex-Kaiser William might also qualify as a veteran. For 13 years he has been out in the cold and he may know enougn to refrain frorft again struggling to lord it over his fellows. Alfonso, the Thirteenth, may think that his number was un- lucky, us mi.-'fortunc h;;< usually dogged the Kings who were second of a namol.
