At the close of the program Santa Claus arrived and unloaded a well-laden tree for the boys and girls. A bag of candy and nuts was given to each child. The proceeds were $33. A hearty vote of thanks was given to the teachers, Miss McHugh, Miss Jessie Nichol, and Mr. Shackleton, and any others who assisted in any way. November 20th, at St. Andrews Presbyterian church, King and Slm- coe street, Toronto. Rev. Dr. Stuart Parker officiated. The bride was given in marriage by her father, and wore an attractive porto brown kit- ten's ear cloth coat, trimmed with caracul, and fashioned over a brown and gold trimmed dress, brown and gold suede shoes, and hat and bag to match. After the ceremony the im- mediate relatives were entertained at a wedding breakfast. Mr. and Mrs. Copela*d later left for Bermuda. They will reside at Elmvale, Ont. Mrs. Stevens received the sad news of the death of her sister, Mrs. Palmer, of Komoka. Mrs. Palmer has been ill for some time. Mrs. Stev- ens visited her this nast fall. Glenn Lcckhart is visiting his sis- ter, Mrs. Bert Rowden, of Clinton for the holidays. Miss Margirerite Stin?on was home from Toronto for Christmas. Last week we mentioned Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ludlow installing a radio. This week our pen has a sadder note to write. Mr. Ludlow has not been well for some time, but was around as usual enjoying his Christmas Din- ner on Thursday and on Friday he was about liis chores until about eleven o'clock when he went to the house complaining of a head ache. He soon became alarmingly worse and a doctor was summoned, but he passed away about two o'clock . Mr. Ludlow was of a very bright and jolly disposition. He was a veritable "gloom chaser". No matter how blue you felt when you met him you alawys passed on laughing. He was born sixty-four years ago last Nov- ember, on the farm where Mr. Thos. Wauchope now lives, which is on the Proton sideroad. Here attfl in Pro- ton village he lived all his life until ten years ago, when he and hL< wife always passed on laughing. He was the only son of Mr. Wm. Ludlow, but had six sisters, only two surviving him: Mrs. John Acheson of the ba'.-k- line and Mrs. Geo. Blakely of Proton. Ho. was a member of the Anglican churih at Proton and attended regu- larly. Forty-one years ago he mar- ried Polly Thompson (whose mother had married Mr. Thos. Ludlow, uncle of the present Mr. Ludlow). Thy had only one daughter, Mrs. Ed. Stinson (Ethel) ind one granddaugh- ter. Beth Stinson. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon, interment taking ptoce in Flesherton cemetery. Miss Irene Marshall, nurse-in-train- ing at Whitby, is visiting her parents.
