He also sent spent in "tripping the light fantastic ^j^^g his cheque for 15, as a donat Bear Was Seen On Twelfth Line, Osprey For some time there has been talk of wolves in the southern part of Artemesia township a:id in Proton, but they have not been actually ob- sen-ed. Now ccmes the story that a bear was seen on Sunday shuffling along the side of the road on the 12th line of Osprey Township. The above fact is declared to be correct by Mr. Steve Sutton of town, who knows a bear when he sees one, and stated that it appeared to him to be a yearling about half grown. As he was motoring along he discovered it coming towai-ds him and on slowing the machine a good chance was giv- en him to make sure of the animal and then it moved off into tha bush at the side of the road, afterwards coming back on when the car pass- ed. Bears have been seen and caught on the Bruce Peninsula, but it has been some years since one has been setn in this district. to«" and games. The party was made ion to give the big week an extra Car Troubles Mr. F. G. Karstedt of town was very unfortunate in a motor trip on Sunday. He and other members of the family visited his son, Jack, in Hamilton. On the return journey the engine heated up. and a short distance the other side of Arthur Mr. Karstedt go;; out to get water, using n tin can with a sharp edge. In do- ing so he slipped on a grassy bank and fell, the can cutting a finger vei">' badly, severing an artery. A fast trip was made into Arthur where Dr. McFarlane bound up the injured member. This was not, however, the end of trouble, for when the party got about three miles this side of Mount For- est the engine heated up very badly, and more cold water was added, with the result that the engine head was craclved and the car had to be aban- doned. A car was engaged to bring the stranded occupants to Durham, where they were met by a Flesher - ton car. Salvation Army Band Here Next Wednesday Arrangements have been made to bring the Salvation Army Band of Civen Sound to Flesherton, on Wed'- nesday evening of next week, June 26th, which is open . night for the stores in town. This will be a splen- did chance to hear this large band from the county town, which 'has visited here on other occasions. If the engagement proves satisfactory an attempt will be made to bring the band to Flesherton either each or every other Wednesday evening throughout the summer months. Let everyone be out to town that night and listen to the music to be pro- vided by the band. . HIT DEAD ON A bad car accident occurred just this side of Shelbume on Sunday, a Toronto party ran into another car head on. The accident occurred on the curve at the Shslbume cemetery. The Toronto car tried to pass the one ahead and ran into another car travelling in the opposite direction. We have not learned the extent of the damage. His Doubts Vanished That the big speckled trout have not all been caught was evidenced last week, when the largest fish of the season was reported to The Ad- vance. It was caught by Mr. Sam McMurdo of Swinton Park and measured twenty inches long, twelve inches in girth and weighed three pounds and five ounces and was caught in the Saugeen river near Priceville. Mr. J. S. McMillan of Ceylon accompanied his friend, Mr. McMurdo to the river for some sport and that day no fish arose to the lure to prove that fish of any size resided in the Saugeen. Mr. MacMillan took a skeptical view that there were no finny monsters in the river and there was no use dangling bait ' o something that wasn't there, but Mr. McMurdo, to prove to his friend that there were, went back the next day and landed the big beafity. as described above. He was a pr)ud man r.nd drove at once to the MacMillan home where he exhib- ited his cat;h, and then presented the skeptical one with ;he trophy of the rod and lino. Neeuiesr, to say it was a dish that r.ny kinjr v.-oukl be proud to surround. The Late John Clinton There passed away at Edmontoa, Alta., on June 2nd, an old resident of Osprey township in the person ot John Clinton, at the age of 72 years. The deceased was born in Osprey township. He was a brother of the late Joseph Clinton who was a resi- der.t of Flesharton for a number of years, also Wesley and Wm. Cli.iton of To onto and Mrs. R. Meldrum of the Fourth Line, Artemesia, and Mrs. Jos. Gamey of Toronto. He leaves no family.
