Brown of Toronto were Thanksgiving visitors with the lawer's sister. Mrs. A. Partridge. Mrs. George Hargrove arrived here Thursday evening to visit a few days with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Pedlar. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ward. Mrs. D. Marsh and son David, of ToronvO were recent visitors with Mrs. Marsh's sis- ter, Mrs. .\lex. English. Mr. Walter Russell is quite ill and under the doctor's care at present. We hope for a ver>- speedy recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Patton, Durham, and Mr. and Mrs. H. Wilson, Flesher- ton, visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Pedlar. The services will discontinoe for a time in the Salem church and wM be held in the homes during the winter months. The meeting next Sabbath evening will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. N'ewell at 7.30. Every- body welcome. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Clement ot Richmond Hill \-isited a few days with their cousin, Mrs. Lewis Pedlar. Mrs. C. Newell and two sisters. Misses Edith and Mabel, motored to Durham and spent a few days with relatives there. Our school has been closed for a few days on account of the illness of the teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Gorham and youngest son of Toronto were visitors oevr the holiday with Mr. and Mrs. John Robertson and family. Messrs. Keith Robertson and .AJex. Morrison have arrived home from the West, VANDEL£UR Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Buchanan spent a day in Toronto lasf week. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gilbert and two little grand-daughters and Mr. Ed. Warling of Toronto spent the holiday with the Warling and Gilbert famil- ies. Nurse Walker of Thombury is att- ending her uncle. Mr. Robt. Graham, who is very ill at present, Mr. and Mrs. .\nderson and fsmily of Oshawa visited over the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Freelnan and fam- ily. Mr. .\. Dunlop spent the holiday with friends at Brampton. The farmer's club held a meeting at the hall on Monday evening of last treek. Mr. Frank Davis w^s .m>- pointed delegate to Toronto. It was deeide<i to have a public meeting on Frid*y evening of this week when Miss Macphail and Mr. F. R. Oliver will speak. Mrs. G. F. Houson and daughter. Margaret, of London are visiting with the former's father. Mr. Robt. Gra- ham, Mr, James Carg«e held a success- ful sihooting match on last week. Mr. and Mrs. Woods and family of Chatsworth spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Hergott. The United Church W.M.S. held their annual thankoffering meeting last Wednesday. .A generous offer- ing was received. A bale of doting an two quilts were sent to a mission field in the west. Sr. of Berkley at Dever Bros, Miss Cora Richardson who has for several years been an efficient clerk in Dever Bros, store has gone to Tor- onto to take a position and night course in bock keeping. Miss Cora will be missed from behind the count- er in the village store and her Pro- ton friends wish her suce&s in her new venture. Mr. Geo. Ludlow ^rho is staying at the home of his daughter.. Mrs. H. Hodgins has ben stiffering Ssevere- ly for several weeks with a sore toe and a few days ago Dr. Carter found it necessary to amputate it, Mr. Lad- low is still very weak since the op- eration.
