Mr. Smith is 83 years of age in the work of building the Presby- terian church nearly thirty years ago. has been an elder in the chucrh ever since that time and he and his good wife have attended constantly when health- would permit, and still take an active part in every work of the church. Mrs. Williams is a constant worker in the Ladies' Aid and Mis- sionary Society. After ministering to the injured man he was taken to the Owen Sound hospital, accompanied by Dr. Turn- bull. An X-ray examination found the foot to be broken in seven places, the main bone having three distinct breaks. The man's back is also seriously injured.' Mrs. Wm. The joint meeting and social .even- ing of the U.F.W.O. and U.F.O. clubs, which was held at Eugenia on Friday evening of last week, was a decided success, there being a large crowd present. After the meetings were over a short urogram was given lunch was then served by the ladies and a social half hour was spent before bringing the evening's entertainment to a close by the singing of the Na- tional Anthem. Mr. Elliott and Miss Jones of Mark- dale visited with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Akitt and family. Mrs. -Alex. English and youngest daughter "n'isited the past week with relatives in Toronto. Preston will conduct prayer and praise meeing at the home of Mr. Sam Pedlar, 4th line, on Thurs- day night. Unity U.F.W.O. club intend holding a box social in the Rock Mills school house on St. Patrick night, Tuesday, March 17th. A good program is being prepared. Come along and have a good time; everybody welcome. .Miss Edith Boyce of Southampton and Mi's. Geo. Snell of Ceylon visited at the home of Mr. Alex. English. We are glad to report Mrs. George Johnson improving fa.'orably at time of writing. Mr. Walter Russell spent part of last week in Ow-en Sound. Miss Olive Wilkinson of Duncan spftit a few days with her sister, Mrs. Em. Russell. Miss Mable Boyce spent the past week at the home of Mr. A. English. The Ladies' Aid will meet at the home of Mrs. John Porteous on Mar. 18th. Ai'isitors welcome. PRICEVILLE MAXWELL PORTLAW The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Thomas Taylor in her bereavement through the death of her father, Mr. John White. Mrs. Albert Thompson received the sad news of the death of her aunt in Toronto. Mrs. Thompson attended the funeral. Mrs. Wm. McLennan, who was call- ed to Toronto on account of the sudden death of her father, returned home last week after a month's visit with her mother. Mrs. McKenzie was down to Toron- to to say good-bye to her sister. Mrs. Calhcart, who left for her home in Manitoba and visited for ten days with relatfves in the city. Mr. Sam Grummet has moved to his farm on the gravel road, one half mile west of Maxwell. While writing of the wonderfu)! changes time and invention have brought about it is worth recording that during the inauguration cere- mony on March 4th of President Coolidge, Canadians were enabled to sit in their homes and lis*^en in to the inauguration speech of the President, as several did in this vicinity. Mrs. Alvin Grummfett is quite ill, and Nurse Moffatt is in attendance. Mrs. .Alex. Findhiy and Miss Sophia of Owen Sound visited with friends in this vicinity over the week end. Miss Marie .McCarthur has return- ed to Toronto after spending a couple of weeks at her home in the Glen. Miss -Anabell McLeod, nurse in the Durham hosptal, spent the week end with her father, Mr. A. D.
