Turner on Tuesday of last week to Flesherton cemetery was largely at- tended by friends and neighbors, who gathered to pay their last tribute of respect to one who was highyl es- teemed. Though of a very quiet disposition Mr. Turner was ever ready to help a friend in need. Respected by all men, giving offence to none, his memory will live in the hearts of those who knew him best. To the family the sympathv of the com- munity goes out in their loss of a devoted husband and father. Mr. E. Riley of the Club House, who has been ill with malaria fever and who went to the hospital in To- ronto a couple of weeks ago, is, we are pleased to be able to rep-â€" "^ doing nicely and expects to be able to return to his home in the course of a few days. Quite a number attended the sale at Mrs. Walker's on Tuesday of last week. The sale, we believe, was successful, good prices being realized. Mrs. Walker left on Wednesday to visit her daughter. Mrs. Jacob WiMams spent the past week at her home here, returning to the city this Tuesday morning, where her daughters. Miss Nea and IJilda, are attending business college and taking up music. Hyslop is visiting her sister. Miss McKenzie, of Cey^n for a few days. Mrs. Foester and Miss Kate Jamie- son visited the latter's sister, Mrs. Hillock, of Maxwell recent!" Quite a number from here attended the dance given by the Kimberley footbal boys on the 7th and report a good time. Large brothers played in Markdale on Friday evening last for the Chats- worth young people, who put on a play in the armouries. Mr. Edvrin Purvis has gone to re- sume his work in Toronto after hav- ing spent the past two months with his parents here. Mr. Oscar Patterson visited friends at Clarksburg recently. The Dolly Varden social, under the auspices of the Memorial Committee, on Thursday of last week was fairly â- irell attended, and a pood time was enjoyed by all present. The com- mittee desire to thank all those who helped in making the evening a suc- cess and especially the chairman, auctioneer and orchestra. The pro- ceeds of the evening amounted to $73.50, which will be a big help toward reducing the debt on the fence. Mrs. Ruthven of Alliston is visit- ing her brother, H. Cairns, at present. TORONTO LINE, NORTH Held Over Last Week. Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Pritchard visited at the home of Mr. Robt. Richardson. Mr. Chas. Stewart made a business trip to Toronto. Mr. WelUngton Alcox left Friday for Brantford, Toronto and other points. We welcome Mr. and Mrs. Alex. .Miller and family to our vicinity. Mr. Miller has purchased the Davis farm. Mr. Geo. Littlejohns attended the Orange Grand Lodge of Ontario West at Brantford this week. The young people of this line spent an evening last week at G. W. Littlejohns' and this week on Monday evening gathered at the home of J. A. Lever. The evenings were spent in bames, music and dancing, after which a dainty lunch" was partaken of. KIMBERLEY Messrs. Andrews and Proctor have gone to Toronto for a few days. Mrs. H. Hammond and Estelle spent Sunday with Mrs. McMullen of Eugenia. A new butcher arrived in town on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Ellis are the proud possessors of a baby boy. The annual bazaar was held on Thursday and netted over one hund- red dollars. The oyster supper was enjoyed by all â€" some because they liked them and others had the sport of trying to eat them. The groceries, home-made candy and fancy work were all disposed of before auction and only a small portion of the farm produce was sold in this way. "Mrs. Robert Chard and children of Flesherton spent a few days with Mrs. Wm. Ellis. Mr. Merkley spoke in the Com- munity Hall Monday night in the in- terest of the Farmers' Egg Pool. Mr. Merkley is a pleasing speaker and handled his subject well. A fair crowd came out to hear him. A number from here went to Flesh- erton to hear the pla'- and report it fine. Mr. Arthur Hutton of Durham vis- ited for a few days in town this week. Miss Dorothy Carson of Toronto spent the week end at her home on the North Line. Mr. Malcolm McKinnon spent a few days in the city last week. Misses McFarlane and Jelly visited on Saturday at the latter's home near Shelbume. Mr. Jack McTaggart came home from the city Saturday night for a few days. Mr and Mrs. Will Bowes of Mark- dale accompanied the latter's sister, Miss Edith James, home. Miss James visited in Markdale the ist couple of weeks. Rev. Mr. McLaren of Tor->nto very ably filled the pulpit of the Presbyter- ian church here on Sunda â- Mr. Alex. McLauchlan is visiting his brother, Donald, and sister, Mrs. Robert Shortreed. Mr. McL. intends leaving for his home in the West shortly. Messrs. James McArthur and An- gus Clark are visiting friends in To- ronto. This community was shocked on Sunday evening to hear of the death of Mrs. John Weir of Glenelg from pneumonia. Miss Weir was only ill a week and was much better Sunday morning, but took a chan-"e on Sunday afternoon and passed away about five o'clock. Much sympathy is ex- tended to the family. Mrs. Dodds of Caledon is visiting her daughter, Mrs. R. J. Sim. (Intended for last week) Rev. Mr. Curran spent a couple of days in Toronto last week. Mr. L. Frook took a business trip to the city over the week end. We are pleased to see Mr. Ed. Hogg back to duty after his recent illness of six weeks. Mr. Delany, wh« was relieving for Mr. Hogg, left for his home in Brampton on Thursdav. Mrs. Ernest Lane of Bassano, Alta., and little son left for home on Mon- day. She was accompanied by her sister. Miss Evelyn Burnett, as far as Toronto. Mr. Andrew Hincks is home after spending the past couple of months in the North. Mr. and Mrs. J. S. McDermid and children, Wallace and Evelyn, spent Sunday with Mrs. McDermid's par- ents near Dromore. Miss Martha Watson visited her sister, Mrs. Drinnie, near Dromore, recenty. Miss Doris McLean visited over the week end with her friend. Miss Bea- trice Bushell, at the parsonage, Holland Centre. Major McGillivray is in the city for a few days this week. Mr. A. Her niece, Mrs Pennock, is waiting on her, also a cousin. Miss Alice McDougal, of Toronto came up on Monday night to assist. We hope Miss McDougal will soon be restored to her usual health. The Rev.
