The City Council of Owen Sound, by resolution at a meeting last weak, adopt- ed the name of " 8cenery City " as a descriptive title. Oar townsman, Mr. Jeseph Blackburn, went to Toronto some four months ago for treotmenc hbping to receive benefit. For some time there was improvprnent but heart trouble set in and his case has become critical but hopes are entertoined for his recovery. The Preshycerian Guild bad a very enjoyable time at their meeting on Tues- day evening of last week . They had Markdale Guild as their guests and after the regular epening exercises the meeting took the form of a social evening- About 160 were [restnt and a very enjoyable time was spent by all- The Markdale St aadard reports the outing as follows : *' The local Presbyterian Guild was entertained by the Fleahertnn Guild on Tueaday evening. The Markdaleites appreciated the invitatian, and in spite of the disagreeable weather a goodly number joutoeyed to the sifter village. It was one of the most tDJoyabl' even- ings in the history of ths Markdale Guild â€" elevating and helpful, and will no doubt prove very profitable. The Trench Mortar and Machine Gun promised to Flesherton by the War Trophy Department arrived here recent- ly. The machine gun Is in good shape hut the trench mortar is in a pretty delapidated condition and evidently has teen considerable service. Neither of these death dealing instruments are very large and we will have no trouble tint'.ing room for them in ihe new Memorial Park, where they 17 ill be placed next prinj.'. Eugenia also received a trench mortar and a machine gun and these will likely be placed iu the park there. The Owen Sound Sun-Times says : â€" -Arnel Love is practically a free man and is now working at the Queen St, asylum in Toronto, and will bt there for atiother month or so, when he will spend a few days visiting friends in Owen Sound and possibly Flesherton. He intends to go to Chicsao in ahout six weeks and will there train for Christian work, possibly for evangelical work. The above facta were contained in a remarkable letter received a few days ago by a prominent business man. Anyone readinu the letter cDuld not but be impressed that Arnel Love was really converted to a Christian life.
