Sample ef town bad nineteen nicely grown chickens destrcyed by some animal last woek. Ha sek a trap for the marauder and caught an enormous cat that had evidently gone wild and be- longed to nobody. The animal weighed an even sixteen pounds. It bad evidently lived " on the fat of the land " Mr and Mrs. W. Karstedt of Indian- apolis, and Mr. and Mrs . Weneer and three children of Koknmo, Indiana, motored over from the Hoosier State last week and visited for a couple of daya with Mr. and Mrs. F. G. Karstedt. They returned home by way of Toronto, Cleveland and Toledo, and report a very delightful trip on the way over. The Upper Canada Biole Depository kept St The Advance othce, has juist received a complete stock of Bibles, rnnging in price from 50c. to 95.25. Among these are some beautiful things for presentations. There are also Bibles for old people with large print, pocket testaments and Psalms. Come in and look at them. The Presbyterian Sabbath School held their annuel picnic in Lever's grove on Saturday last. A large crjwd turned out and spent the afternoon in baseball and various other forms of amusement. The ladies lived up to their reputation and supplied an abuudtnee of good eats. Another barn was burned last week by the Glenelg firebug. This makes the fourth casualty caused by this fiend. Shooting on sight would be too good for the outlaw. The la'ebt victim is Patrick Haley, lot U, con. 7, Glenelg. Mr. Haley, an aged gentleman, anl his nephew were alone at the time. His son, who was married on Wednesday of list week, was on his wec'ding trip. There was a good repreaentative meet- ing in the town hall on Thursday after- noon to discuss the memorial question. Tw.T committees were appointed, one to wait on the executors of thw Flesher estate with a view to securing .i location, for a monument and another to wait on the two municipal councils on a proposi- tion to enlarge »nd move the town hall and placing a monument in front. These committees are to wait on the respective councils and report forthwith. Miss Dell Thurston, who has taught the Rock Mills school for the past three years, was pleawntly surprised on Friday afternoon last before the closing if school, by the visitation of a number of of ladies, who carried with them material for an afternoon tea. They also brought along and presented to the retiring teacher a handsome silver biscuit bowl. Master Freddie Hargrave aleo gave her a pretty cut gliis marmalade jar. Miss Thurston was thoroughly taken by sur. prise and was very grateful for this mark of recognition of her services. Scott-Black A pretty wedding was salemnizad at the home of Mr, and Mrs. Neil Black, 548 Bathurst street, Toronto, when their youngest daughter, Maude, was united in marriase to Lieut. T. N. Scott, youngest son of the late Thomas Scott, Sinahampton, Ont.. by the Rev. R. B. Cochraoe of College street Presbyterian church. The bride was given away by her father, and wore a gown of white •atin and ireurgette crepe, and a tuUa vail arranged in pretty cap effect, with orange blassoms, and carried a bouquet of Uphelia roses. ' After the wedding dinner Lieut, and Mrs. Scott left for a short honeymoon trip to Niagara Fall*, Buffalo and New York.
