The funeral took place on Sunday at 2.30 p. m. to Greenwood Cometery, Owen Sound. Service at the house was conducteil by his pastor. Rev. C. It was with deep regret that the news of the death of William Rut- ledgre, which occurred at Lethbridgre. .\lta., on Sunday. October 27th, was received by the people of this dis- trict. He had been sick only a ffew : days with the influenza when he pass- ; ed peacefully away. He is a sou of Mrs. .\ndrinv Rutledge. Ceylon, at\d spent his boyhood days there. The young man was 35 years of age last Ai^ust. The day war was declared Will of- fered himself for service in defence of the Empire atid joined the 10th Batt. of Calgary. Alta. He went overseas that fall and spent the win- ter months at that memorable spot. Salisbury Plains. He went to France in April 1915 in time for the second battle of Ypres. where he remained for 13 months, when he was wound- ed ill the ankle. He was invalided home on July 1-th. 1916. afterwards being discharged. He was working in an elevator at Lethbridge when he took sick with the influenza and died within a few days. The body arrived home on Saturday last and was buried at Flesherton cemetery .\ brother, Roy, who has been work ing at Lethbridge as a train clerk accompanied the body home. Much sympathy is extended to Mrs. Rut- le<i^e and family in the loss of a lov- ing son and brother.
