If therd is any Dhjtotloo to tho unit for Fox Fanning in Yukon The enthusiasm concerning fox catch- ing and farming in Yukon hns materially waned during the past few weeks, owing to the fact that the price of foxes has de- creased nearly 50 per cent, since last summer and that hundreds of foxes held iu captivity have died from sonio un known cause. Many of theso foxes were black, and, in some cases as high as $1,500 to $2,UOO had been paid for them. One dealer who, it is mid, could have sold his stock of foxes in July fur $65, OOO.sold two weeks ago for less thin $a6, 000, the letter price boing, to some ex- ten', due to the decline in prices, but, also, to the fast that many ef the anim- als had died in the meantime. One young black fox, fur which $1,000 had been paid, died live days after being plac ed in the corral. Owing to the decline in price, fully 150 y .ung foxtM, all of the rod variety, held in captivity m icuthern Yukon, have been turned out to return to their native haunts in the wilds.
