At the annual school meeting of this section, on Wedne.sday, Mr. Geo, Wright was elected trustee in place of J. I. The Methodist Sabbath school en- tertainment on the evening of New Year's day goes^on record as aiiothtr successful event. The th*nk. offering leceived amounted to nearly $02.00. The pro- jjram was pronounced excellent, and was enjoyed by a Urge audience. There were only four ratepayers pres- ent at the annual school meeting in the school house Wednesday of last week. This lack of interest may ahow conRdenco in the school hisrd as constituted, but it oertaiuly is discouraging to tho trustees themselves to note that the ra'opayars take such a small interesr in their linaii- oial and other work. Mr. Davis was the rething trustee this year and ho was ro- •leoted. One could scarcely blame our trustees if they refused to act longer and made it compulsory foi tho electors to come out and iret busy, Mis. C. H. Irwin passed away on Monday inoining of this week at the homo of her fatlier, Mr. John Ballainy, at the atfe of 34 yeaia. Much sympathy is oxpivssed for Mr- Irwin and tbo fain- priso will bo handsomely lOAardod. Ours is a ver.satile climate indeed. On Saturday we were troated|to a genuine thaw, with rain at night. Monday pro- duced a howling blizzard which swept the .•'uovv in clouds through the air, searohini^ every crack and cranny. Tho travel'or on the country loada fired badly indeed. Great drifts massed up burying deep the road and making travel almost impossible. Tuesday had a more accept- able .'surprise in situe. 'I'ho day broke clear and cold with a bright sun which could not temper tho preVHiling "Mi.ip" of ihu atniospheru. The day was onu of tho most enj yable of all our varied wintei days. Cold and bracing wi:h the bright sun beaming down it tilled one wiih life, even though its etrect was painfully apparent on the woodp ile. My Dream Last niijht I sat in deep rcRuctiim, thinking of home, when recolluctioii c lusod my mind sinnehow to wainler into tho past, as there I poi.derid. 1,'nt in tho midst of uU my thought I fell asleep ' â€"and knew it not. I slept. I dreamed a dream so fair. I dreamed I saw a goidon stair. An angel stood just there behnv beckoning mo wiih him to «o. I rose. I followed where bo wont. L'p, yea up tho stoop ascent â€" up to the top of the golden stair â€" up to a palace \'.\ the air. A palace? Nay, a country fair. I looked on iho streets of a ."hiniiig town, whoro through the strecta, and up and down wont numerous people â€" old and youngâ€" and glad and happy were â- sonas they sung of the great and beauti- ful jubil.o that caused their country to be free from ilie awful drinking curse and death. Ai.d I in wonder held my l)roath, as Hooked on a notice above llio town; "This is what tho world will bo when fiMin drinking it is freeâ€" not a grog shop i,] the world, into the past they'll all be hurU:.), and tho temperance flag fur aye shall wave. It all seemod then to fade away, and tho scene instead was of today. All was misery, want and care â€" moral darkness and deep despair. The vision had taken me lower down another flight to another town, and showed me tho misery of ci'y slums. Quoth he, "Wo know from wheiico it comes. It comes from the dragon you must slay. It comes from the drinking curse today, and will kill unless the prayer and vote are sent to help." Then I awoke. And sitting in my room I knew tho lesson meant for mo and you. The wondrous truths tin vision showed of how our men are on the road to cerUkin death â€" yea endless death â€" unless wo us8 nur lime and breath to banish the diaijon from tho land. Then we lot'Othor hainl in bind would make our land like that on high. We hope â€" yes know it will come bye and bve. -0. M, Phosphonol the Electric Restorer for Men.
