Residents of Melancthon township, ii the vicinity of Redickviile, are anxiously w nderhig if Eugene Coste, the oil and gas expert, wid comnienco drilling for oil in that neighborhood when spring opens, as ho has taken several options on property in and around Redickviile. The knowing ones a few years ago would LiUgh when informed tltat pure aid alino.st refined kero.sene had been punqicd fioni the drilled well in front of the old hotel at Redickviile. The fact that oil has been pumped from this well for over tveiity years is making the people believe thore is something in it. In October last the editor of this imper had an interview with Mr. Coate and he fully believed tho report. Ho said the oil n i.;ht have come from a considerable distance and would be refined by runiiin* through gravel, etc. Mr. Co.ste tinnly believes that there is plenty of ml in tho hicality. This spring, we are informed, the well on the old Jerry Wallwork home- stead, acioss the road from the hotel, has large quantities of oil in it and that Wm Clulow, who lives there, says he could get about live gallons of oil per day out of his well. If this is correct there will be something doing as r.oon as the spring opens. â€" Shelburne Free Press.
