I I^ist SatOrdiiy Our Divine Service .in Sunday of last ground wus frozt-ii Week wjis conducted by Mr. Muntgomery of Or:in^e Valley, Mr. Hames.^ filling the afternoon app<:>intuicnt at HarkJiway i Mr. 5L-. Montgomery is an intellifjent younjj uian, (a school te-icher, we uinier- stand) and bids fair to beojine ;i i mlpit orator. His subject ba-sed on Isa., 511- with .several quotations from the new testament bearing on the same subject was aUy hjmdled and we shall be glad to hear him occa-sionally in th future. Yes- terday your cor. was prevented by his old enemy, rheumatism, from being present at Divine .service but was inform- ed that the service room was tilled to its full sitting capacity and that the subject delivered by Sir. Harness, based on 1 Tim. 6, 7-8 was a most vigorous one. r Industrial Home Notes {By an Inmate) n Seeding here, as in many other places will be very backward thin season, yet, we should not allow our faith to waver in the Divine [promise of seed and harvest time. John Tisdiile, referred to a few weeks ago as having been examined by Dr. Burt, «yej ear and nose specialist, was trans- ferred to the General and Marine hospit- al, Owen Sound, about the first of the present month. Shortly after his arrival (here an operation was performed which, however, did not prove altogether satis- factory as the seat of the disease could not be reached with safety by the oper- ating physicians. It is doubtful whether another operation will be attempted, his ikge and the weak condition of his heiirl being very much against him in so criticid an operation. He underwent a similitr operation about twenty-four years ago in the Toronto General HospitiU which un- doubtedly saved the sight of his right eye but within the last yej»r or two a rehtpse Ims taken place taking the form of an in- ward growth and it is doubtful whether it can now be successfully removed owing to the causes above mentioned. We feel to deeply sympathise with friend John in his affliction, he being a most desirable companion, quiet and agreeable, always ready and willing to render as.sistance to any needy comrade as far as he was able, is a good living, God serving christian and « model inmate. We understand his friends pay for his maintenance while in the hospital but the county bears the cxpen.se of the operation. Although we scarcely entertain hopes of his complete recovery, yet we sincerely trust that when he returns to us he will be greatly im- |iroved and spared a few more years with- uat the intense suffering he has hitherto MO patiently borne. Since last writing two more inmates have been received to fill two of the vacan- cies of departed ones; one is a new comer the other is a former inmate re-adinitted. Mrs. Mcintosh of Dei-by was admitted in the early part of the month. For one of her ago (72) she is remarkably idert, a good needle-woman, speaks and sings tiaelic to the veins of nicety, which would be a source of unspeakable pleasure to tile eai-8 of poor old Mrs. McLean, were she yet alive to hear her. Our old and estimable friend, J.L. Cameron, was read- mitted ou the 4th. Friend John waa discliitrged at his own rojuest about a month previous to his readmission hoping to do for himself a while longer. Had ho remained here pntil the cold weather was entirely over ho may have done bet- ter, but unfortunately the inclemency of i the weather prove*! too much for his del- j icate constitution and rendered him un- ; able to get into any light employutent, ' hence his return. We feel st>rry for , John, ho U now in his 73nl year and i although still a smart man his const i- ' iutiou is undermined and his days for | hard labor are past. Light and ea-sy situations are hasd to obtain without iu- Huoncc. The spirit is wiliiug but the Hesh is weak, old cimirade. %Iver since your cor has lieen an inmate He has kept a book in which he Tec(>rtlM the names of all admitteil, from whence they came, theii- age, etc. On U>i>kiug over the lists a few dtiys ago he diicover- t^dthat (should his test be correct,) C>s- prey is the only municipality in the coun- ty tnat has not as yet sent an inmate to Good Word* forChamt>er. lalQ'9 Coujjh Komedy.
