Anthrax is not ordinarily contagious with man, but m performinj^ the autopsy the disease in this case appears to have been trans- mitted. We beg to draw tho attention of the Toronto Exhibition authorities to the fact that a total eclipse of the sun occurs m liabrador on the 30th inst. If it would not be considered impertinent we would like to enquire why it is that they have allowed such a drawing card as this to pass them by without even an etfort being made to secure it for one of their uumerous .side shows? The Canadian Pacific Railway Company will run their first farm laborers' excursion to Manitoba and the Northwest on Fri- day of this (reek. A Priceville Race. Although it was Sunday evening tho Priceville races proved a decided success. And as the race was hottest on one of the back stre'Sts few witne.ssed the proceetl- ings. RudUie came in first. (Time, 3 miu.) Lauchie got second. (Time, 5 min.) Tho purse ceusisted of, first, a dashing beauty from one of our neighbor, ing villages, second, a dark beauty of the male sex from our own burg, who, with his shirt waist suit, passed off nicely as one of the fairer sex (in the dark) Had Lauckie not been working so hard the day before, breaking a neck yoke and a tug, the result might have been different. As the races were not advertised the crowd of spectators was small. Never- iheless'we hope that on the shortest not- ice tho citizens will not fail to patronize tho sports in the tuture.
