Before husuiini; call on or write to their agenti W. .J. Bowes, Markdale. Dr. Soott of Maxwell has sold his med- ical practice to Dr. .\. T. Bond, a grad- uate of Toronto University and recently with Dr. McFaul of CoUingwood. Dr. Bond b now in charge of the practice, and places his card in this issue Many people in Osprey will regret to hoar of Dr. Scort's removal from active work, and more paiticularly on account of the nec".ssi'y which arises for the move. At the same time we believe they will Knd a worthy successor in Dr.Cond. Division Court was held in Dundalk li.st week. The docket was uuiniportant- One case, however, may be of public util- ity. This was that of Sharp vs ^loorhead. A party of Dundalk young people hired a livery from Sharp list fall. The vehicle broke down neir Fle.-'hcrtou and c.iused the'joung people much inconven ience. Sharp, the liveryman, sued for seventeen dollars, aliened damaffc? to the rig. Tlie judg'? held that the vehicle wa.s unsound and dismissed tho case. Tho anniversary .service in the Presby- terian cliupjh on S^iiiday was we'l attend- ed, the preacher beinL' Rev. .lolm I.. Small, B. A. of Auburn, Out On Mon- day eveniiiii Mr. Small lectured to a fair size.l audience on the subje';t of "Church Ecitj'iette." The audience was most isppreciative, for the lecture was a treat and was one whicii should have been listened to by our youn.4 people. Mr. Small is a very pleasing speaker, and inteispersed his lecture with several recitations, which shows that, he is a reader ,as well as lec'urer. Mr. and i\Irs. Sheppard each gave a solo, and the cho'r rendered several anthems. The ladies served ice-cream and cake in the sclioc! room free of extra charge. In speakia.; of tho House of Refuse opening; the Dundalk Herald s»y3:"There was also a dearth of newspai)er men when ever/ paper in the county sh^iuld have been represented. Though soma may not think it, there is a ceitain amount of courfe.<y due tho press, and it would have beo:i a very little Ibin^ for the couiity council or tho Uiaiiagement fo forward to each one a proper invitaliim to be present, and better still, provide a place for takini; notes when they did come. The result \> ill be that instead of such ail event as the opening of so grand an in.stitution being heralded with pride and enthusiasm to every resident of tho county, the majority of newspapers will refer to the fact that it w.vs opened as they would refer to a barn raising." Mr. W. C. Parker, a well-known »nd nighjy reapected resident of .^rtenics'a, passed away on Thursday of last week at thp Tufotito general hosijital after a pro- lonjjed illness with cancer of the bt>wcls. Mr. l^irker had been at the ho.spital for a ctiiiplc of weeks. The remains were brought home and i^(erred in B'lesherton cemetery in Friday last. Tlie deceased (;eiitlcmaD was a native of Yorkshire, England, and came Co tv^is country 21 years ago. Ha has lived is this township for the past twenty years, aud wan a ctiri- Ktsteiit member of the Methodist church. Much sympathy is expressed for the >>ercavcd family Mrs. Parker deaircs as to exprosR her thanks for the very many great kindnesses shown by neii(h*x>rs in her hour of trial. Tbefuaeral on Friday I Uat was under th« anspic«s of the I. (>.. : v., ol wbidi deceased was a member. Arbitration All imp rtant arbitnitinn case was in progress here Monday and Tuesday of this «eek before Messrs. C. Pye (chair- mar.) ClarksHurt! ; James McCaslan of Eiiphraiiia, and R. J. Sproule, Flesher- ton. The case was one arisin<; out of an accident on the 12th con., opposite John Weber'*, in the valley, last winter, by which Gilbert Isaac of Kimberley claimed damaqiea from Artemesia township for injury sustained by his wife. Mr. Isaac's story is to the effect that while drivini^ down the mountain from Markdale at night his cutter struck a whe<d scraper lying be-side the track ; the horse jumped and upset the cutter, it is claimed injur- ing Mrs. I.saac's back, from which she is said not yet to have fully recovered. A lame number of witnesses were heard, including Dr. Schultis of Ileathcole, who treated the case. The plaintiff was represented by P. McCullough of Markdale, and the defendant township by Barrister W. H. Wright. â- â-  â-  â-  ^ A Missouri editor refuses to publish obituary notices of people who while living failed to subscribe for his paper, and gives this pointed reason. People who do not take their home paper are dead anyway, and their mere passing away is of no news value. A. bunch of surveyors, on the new C. P. R. line i.ear Bond Head were running a line through a farmer's wheat field. Tho farmer objected and presuasion fail- ed turned a crosj bull into the field. The bull soon had the field to himself. A farmer near Bolton "sot" his dog on the surveyors, but the dog was not as successful as the bull. â€" Bolton Enterprise ' Notice to Creditors ruth.!M.i^tcr .f th'EstHteof WILLIAM SEYMOUR CHUISTOE. ]ate <.f the Villfiye of Flushfitou in ihe County of Grey, Physician, tWeaaed- XOTICE is hereby f-ivr-n piiisiiant to Tlie Pevi^ed Stafntes of (JuUrio 1897, Cliap. 1-29 tliiit (ill cretlit;ors an-1 otl'ers haviiis claiius asaiiiBt the estate of thu sai'l \\"i!liaui Seymour Chrit*- toe,|(Ieeua<>e<i.who fli«d on or about the Twolfcb rla." ci' Februarv, A.
