W. Siuclair, performed the last sad rites, commiting to the silent tomb all that was mortal of one who was greatly beloved by all. His ransomed soul haa joiuod that throng Who have learued to sing the glad now song. Though mourning friends his less deplors, They shall meet again to part no more, ^ â- ^1 Address and Presentation. On Monday evening, Nov. 30, the Maxwell Prusbyterian congreG;ation as sembled and proceeded tu the mante, where they agreeably surprised Rev Fleming and family, ciimpletely filling the large manse. After petting oomfurt- ably warmed Mr. ilobt. Kinnear, acting ftq master of ceremonies, called u] on Dr, Scott to read au address, while Mr. J. Ferguson presented a well filled purse as a token of their apipreciation of Mr. Flem- ing's services here. This was immedi- ately followed by an adilresa by Mrs. A. G. MacCallum and a purse presented by Mrs. G. Ross to Miss Kiite Fleming, org- anist, presented by the yuung peapio of the church. A luuch wa.s then provided, and ample justice being done to it a very pleasant hour was spent in games and .auiuseraonts by the yonnj; people, while the older people enjoyed impromptu addresses from Mr. Joseph Ferguson, Mr. Andrew.s, teacher. Dr. Scott, Mr. Kinnear and others. Mrs. A. E. Mac- Callum presided at the organ and inter- spersed the addresses with music. A very enjoyable and profitable evcuing was spent. A great deal of regret is experi- enced at Afr, Fleming's departure, he was BO thoroughly respected, loved and admired, not only by his own people but by the community. He is an exceedingly able pulpit orator and always drew large and appreciative audiences. His place will be hard to fill . Few country putpits were so ably tilled, a9 he spared no effort to make his sermons interesting and proKtable, being a lu.tn of superior edu- cation, well jiosted on the general topics of the day, liberal in his views and thoroughly in earnest in his work. Bis sermons and services have been very much appreciated by Maxwell pcople, aiid nothing but regret is heard at his depart- ure to Minto, Manitoba, whore he has been called, and whore a fi«ld of great usefulness awaits him. The family were very popular iu the circles uf the young people and tho loss to Maxwell will be very difficult to replace, as they have always taken an active part in everything pertaining to the advancement aud mural welfare of the community, --ClTIZW-N OF MaXWKLL, of the township had lost the stock cer- tificates. Mr. Greer on assuming uffict*, had this aRset looked into ind obtained power, m conjunction with the treasurer, to dispose of tho stock which, up to now, had bjen a nightmare in the auditors' report. Theso otfiuials at once placed the maiter in the hands of Mr. Yance, their solicitor, who had duplicate certificates granted, and the stuck placed on the Eng- lish market with the above results. The f{u(id (lid conservative electors oi Mulinur were somewhat charry at the beginning of the year on account of having elected an inexperienced council. Now they are wagginii their heads in a very doubtful rnatiuer if asked if they aie going to make any change this year. It goes without saying that the council of Mulmur will be returned by ucclamatiim.
