Description
- Full Text
One Fred [Sheptic] who was on his way home from Muskoka to Sullivan township, afoot and alone, got off the road while crossing "Allen's sink hole" on Monday night of last week. The night was very dark and he had his "kit" on his back, and it was with great difficulty that he escaped drowning. He however succeeded in crawling out and returned to Mr. McNally's house, about half a mile distant, where he was hospitably entertained and had his clothes dried--which were every stitch thoroughly soaked--and he continued his journey next morning.

Allen's sink hole was infamous in the mid-1880's, but nobody seems to know where it is now. This editor has narrowed the location to some point on Grey Rd. 12 or a predecessor thereof, between Markdale and Dornoch.- Date of Publication
