Owne Sound, Aug. 17.--The Women's Christian Temperance Union for Grey and Bruce held a convention here in the Methodist church yesterday morning. There were about 60 delegates present from the different local unions in the counties, and much interest was manifested in the proceedings. Reports from the different delegates show that the local unions were meeting with marked success and fulfilling in an eminent degree the highest hopes entertained of them at their formation. In the evening a large and successful Temperance mass meeting was held in the town hall, at which Mrs. Youmans, the veteran Temperance worker, delivered a stirring address. Rev. John Somerville occupied the chair. At the close of the meeting resolutions were moved and carried by an almost unanimous vote in favor of submitting the Scott Act to the electors of Grey. The following officers were elected at the convention for the ensuing year:--Mrs. Campbell, Owen Sound, President; Mrs. Rogers, Owen Sound, Vice-President; Mrs. Rayomnd, Meaford, and Miss Creasor, Owen Sound, Secretaries; Mrs. Foster, Chatsworth, Treasurer.
