On Saturday afternoon last our citizens were startled by the cry of fire, when James Henry's dwelling was found to be in a blaze; the prompt application of a few pails of water however quenched the devouring element before much damage was done. Cause, we believe, a defected stove pipe. No insurance. At 3.15 on monday morning the slumbering citizens were again arousd by the cry of fire! but before many arived on the scene the fire was subdued; this was the former dwelling of Mrs. Caswell which adjoins her Railroad House. It must have beem set on fire. Damages slight. On the same morning a fire occurred on the farm of Mr. Bowler, some two miles distant, and is still burning with unabated fury. Several cords of wood has already been destroyed and Mr. B says fully 70,000 brick will be burnt by next Saturday.
