A Preserved Body.

Says the Arthur /Enterprise:/--Some thirty-five years ago a Frenchman died near Arthur, and was buried on the 4th line of Collingwood township. The man was a confirmed drunkard and died while under the influence of liquor. And now comes the strange part of the story. The other day the burial ground in which the old man was interred so many years ago was being surveyed and laid out in lots. It was discovered that the line fence came across the grave of the Frenchman, and the body was exhumed for reburial. The rude coffin in which it was contained on being brought to the surface, was opened out of curiosity, and the spectators were surprised to find the body in a perfect state of preservation. Not a feature was marred, but he lay just as he had been buried 35 years before. Whether the whiskey he had consumed through life or some peculiar quality of the soil had preserved the remains is a matter of conjecture.
