Miss Macphail Hostess to Former Greyites South-east Grey county folk, resident in Ottawa, were the guests of a delightful party on Tuesday evening, Feb. 28, when Miss Agnes MacPhail, M. P., entertained at dinner in the House of Commons. Covers were laid for eighteen, each place being designate; by a card bearing a miniature map of Grey county and the name of the guest. The table was centred by a large raised map of the County in colors, all being placed on a huge mirror with ferns and spring flowers and sprinkled with violets. Miss MacPhail, who had made her budget speech in the afternoon and was receiving the congratulations of friends on it, looked charming in a new French gown of embroidered georgette over peach crepe, and wearing a corsage bouquet of violets. The toast to the King and Grey county. her hills and valleys, her riv- the guests launched into praises of their native section of Ontario. Mr. C. R. Mcintosh. M.P., sang of the glories of the natural beauties of Grey county- her hills and valleys, her rivers and woods, contrasting its natural loveliness with the forced charms of urban existence. Mr. W. P. Telford, M.P.. said while he disliked speech making he could not let the opportunity pass without a word on behalf of Grey county, and expressing the thanks of North Grey at being included in the party He spoke of the part that Grey county had played in the growth of Canada, particularly in view of the numbers who had gone to the West, which, while impoverishing the county, had enriched the national life. Mr. Hector McKinnon and Miss MacPhail voiced the sentiments that the charm of Grey county was in its people- their real true worth and generous hospitality having much to do with their longings to get back "home". Mr. John L. McDonald expressed the appreciation of all present at the opportunity of meeting together and enjoying each other's company, at the same time assuring the hostess of the affection that Grey County had for her as they realized how safe their interests were in her hand. Among the guests were Mr. W.J. Ward, M.P.; Mr. C.R. McIntosh, M.P. and Mrs. McIntosh;Mr. W.P.Telford, M.P., Rev. Mr. Buckingham, Mr. H.B. McKinnon, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Fenwick, Mr. and Mrs. Stewart, Miss Ursa Mathewson, Mr. and Mrs. John L. MacDonald, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Laughlin, Miss Hazel Sheritt, Mr. Morley Phillips.
