- A group of workers pose for a photo while working on the Trans Continental Railway tracks near Kenora (Rat Portage), Ontario. According to the McDonald papers, 12 000 men and 5000 horses were employed in the construction in this area. The cost was $12 million, of which 10% was spent on dynamite.
