Description

Crew at the Westfort roundhouse with decorated locomotive awaiting arrival of the train from the east, on June 30, 1886. Fort William was one of more than two dozen locations between Montreal and Port Moody at which locomotives were changed. The shop crew at this point, under the direction of their foreman J.C. Fregeau, spared no effort to decorate 4-4-0 No. 33 for such an auspicious event as the first scheduled transcontinental train. The locomotive is shown at the engine house while awaiting arrival of the train from the east on June 30, 1886.
