Candie at Mackie Siding - Due to poor track conditions caused by high water on the Whitefish River and the weakened bridges at Hymers, the Port Arthur Duluth Railway was issued an order to close. Revenue on the line did not warrant the heavy expenditure necessary to repair the tracks and bridges.
