- Description
- Crowds stroll through Current River Park, Port Arthur, Ontario, during the city's 50th Anniversary celebrations. The picnic at the park was attended by a crowd of over 10,000. Children and their parents drank 5,000 pints of milk, and ate 10,000 doughnuts and popsicles. Children competed in races. During the evening a dance was held in the Casino, shown at the left. Fireworks ended the evening. Visible in the photograph's background are some of the city's chief landmarks; grain elevators, and the legendary Sleeping Giant.
