- Description
- Work crews stand to the side of the intake pipes that are about to be lowered into the waters of Lake Superior. Before this happens, a huge filter screen will be bolted to the intake pipe. Once the filter is attached, the intake pipe will slowly be lowered by winches and pulleys into a channel cut into the ice. This photo was taken 3,500 feet from shore at Bare Point. Port Arthur needed a clean supply of drinking water.
