- Description
- Photograph of a two story structure with a hip roof and windows with rounded arches at the top. This was the only hospital in the District from 1885 to 1900. For a time in the early 1880's, the Sisters of St. Joseph converted parts of the convent they lived in to nursing wards until more could be done. The construction of the CPR railroad had begun, and there was an urgent need for a hospital. Dynamite explosions, accidents and typhoid were common occurrences in this area.
