- Portrait of John McIntyre, who was known as Governor McIntyre, chief factor of the Hudson's Bay post at Fort William from 1855 to 1878. Governor McIntyre was a world traveler, a man fluent in English, Gaelic, and Chippewa and spoke French and Russian as well. When he retired in 1878, he was appointed as Indian agent for Treaty no.3 and served in that position until 1897.
