- Description
- CPR elevators B and C in early Fort William, around 1903. Elevator B was designed and built in 1889 by W.J. Ross, and Elevator C was built in 1890 by J.A. Jameson., Elevators B and C were quickly built to accommodate the sudden inundation of grain from the West. The completion of the rail-lines between Thunder Bay and Winnipeg, and a bumper crop of grain in 1887 caught the towns unaware. Grain poured into elevators even as they neared completion.
