Description
A portrait of John McKellar, first mayor of the town of Fort William. John McKellar was the first mayor of Fort William and served from 1892 to 1898. John Mckellar died in 1900. In his memory, his brothers Peter and Donald donated a block of land to the citizens of Fort William so that a hospital could be built. The cornerstone for the John McKellar Memorial Hospital was laid on Oct. 10th, 1902. To see a photograph of the early hospital see McKellar General Hospital, 1906.
