Description
The method of transport used in the construction of the highway to Red Lake was by 'scow'. This lake barge carried trucks from Sioux Lookout to Ear Falls. Trucks were driven off one scow and loaded onto another scow to take them to English River. Before the highway, water transportation was the only method used to move supplies from one area to the other.
